Senior Electrification and Plant engineer
I manage all Electrical and Plant, EMC and DC Traction Power design and construction activities on the Crossrail South East Section works between Plumstead and Abbey Wood getting carried out by Network Rail (BS11000 accredited project). I am also the Senior Electrification and Plant project engineer for the Crossrail North East Section works between Pudding Mill Lane and Shenfield. The total value of the portfolio of my work on the Crossrail East Section is approximately £26 million.
• I work with other discipline departments within the Network Rail organization and the Client to establish project specific requirements. I produce project technical specifications and participate in the contract tender process and tender evaluation process for project construction.
• I am accountable for making sure that all Electrical Designs activities are completed in a cost-effective and timely manner by the design contractors, this also include that project financial budgets allocated to the design activities are adhered and designs are completed to the correct Network Rail standards by the design contractor.
• I am accountable for the evaluation of the contractor’s technical design documentation and successful completion of electrical engineering activities on the project.
• I am accountable for appointing Contractor’s Responsible Engineers (CRE) within design and construction organisations contracted to Network Rail with accountability for the day-to-day management and co-ordination of the technical and engineering activities within Electrification and Plant discipline for Crossrail North East and South East section of works.
• I prepared Engineering Specification – Earthing and Bonding requirements for Crossrail South East Section.
• I prepared interface Control Document which formalises agreements between Crossrail and Network Rail, and sets out demarcations points between the two organisations and ownership of delivery where Rail Systems works carried out between both parties share a common boundary and interface.
• I check, control and manage contractor design and construction deliverables for accuracy of information and detail and ensure that effective liaison is made with the other disciplines to maintain good engineering practice. I act as a main point of contact for escalation of electrically related technical issues with the project.
• I provide technical information throughout the design proposals and engineering and construction phases of the project to the project team with regard to all aspects of Electrical and Plant engineering.
• I manage design and specialist consultants as well as external contractors.
• I work collaboratively with delivery partners and contractors to ensure that scheme gets deliver on time and to expectation.
• I regularly attend company standards briefings and participate in multi discipline engineering meetings to raise and discuss ongoing and emerging technical issues to the principal engineer and programme engineering manager.
• As part of Crossrail and Reading Programme, currently I am accountable for technical review, approval and verification of following design and construction activities on the South East and North East Section:-
a) Traction Power system design associated with 33kV AC / 750V DC substation at Abbeywood.
b) Earthing and Bonding Strategy and EMC control plan.
c) Abbey Wood Station electrical building services and 11kV DNO substation.
d) 33kV AC HV feeder cable design and cable diversion.
e) 750V DC Conductor Rail and Electric Track Equipment Design.
f) DC Stray Current Assessment for AC/DC interface between Plumstead Portal and Abbeywood.
g) 650V Signalling power supplies design for North Kent Line between Plumstead and Abbeywood.
h) Dual-Source, 650V double-end fed, auto reconfigurable signalling power system for all existing, changed and new signalling equipment between Crossrail Pudding Mill Lane Portal and Shenfield.
i) North Kent Line and Crossrail Junction Lighting and Points Heating Designs.

Senior Electrical Engineer
I worked closely with the clients, whilst managing a team of design engineers to ensure that the work flow and quality of produced designs are delivered to quality, time and budget.
• I checked and approved 650V Signalling power designs for the Network Rail 25kV AC electrified area.
• I checked and approved EMC, Earthing and Bonding plans.
• I Managed team of designers and successfully delivered Heathrow Terminal 2B Designs ahead of its schedule.
• I carried out independent checks of design documentation and worked closely on Airport Terminal Construction team to get relevant sections delivered correctly and in accordance to all CDM and Health and Safety regulations.
• I visited manufacturer’s sites along with Client and other engineers for Factory Acceptance Certificates.

• I liaised with Train Operating and Freight operating companies on various projects with respect to wayleave issues and station infrastructure project renewals.
• I managed electrical engineering activities so that they result in schemes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality.
• I maintained the use of relevant techniques and procedures of quantitative and qualitative risk assessment to allocated projects and managed the environmental aspects of allocated projects in accordance with Network Rail’s environmental policy.
• I provided project management advice in respect of all construction activities, including testing and commissioning and site supervision. I managed so that the design and construction elements of relevant projects meet the requirements of current legislation, including construction design management (CDM) regulations.
• I was accountable for overseeing Civil, Mechanical and Electrical work to ensure that work is carried out in conjunction with all contractual agreements as well as providing technical expertise during the tendering, design and commissioning phase of projects.
• I undertook reviews of design and construction activities. I interpreted projects’ requirements, identifying and addressing design parameters and engineering problems and ensuring solutions are implemented.
• I ensured all justifications for contractual variations during projects are correct & valid technically.
• I was the Network Rail Designated Project Engineer (Person accountable for the co-ordination and integration of technical and engineering aspect of a multi-disciplinary project) on following projects:-
a) 54. No Points Heating Ends renewals at Westbury and East Somerset area.
b) 125kVA Generator renewals at Sudbrook Pump House and 15HP Pumps renewals at Shrewsbury Station.
c) 16. No Pairs Hydraulic Buffers Stops renewals at London Paddington and London Waterloo Station.
d) Level crossing lighting renewals in Wales and walkway lighting renewals at Shrewsbury Station.
e) 26. No Distribution Network Operator Cubicles renewals in South Western Area.

Electrical Design Engineer

I prepared Electrical designs in accordance with Railway Group and Network Rail Standards. I was responsible for answering construction team queries on the jobs I was working on. I was responsible for the engineering development of allocated proposals by client from clarification of remit to project completion so that the engineering solutions to proposals are developed to best satisfy the business case.
• I prepared designs covering, Stations platform lighting, Level crossings, Points heating and Hot Axle Box Detector Systems which include low-voltage single and three-phase electric power system designs with limited supervision.

• I carried out Commissioning of Hot Strip Mill PLC Automation works with system engineers; my responsibility was to check the hardwiring of the complete system.
