Dedicated to strategic payment project (Global Payment Program: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/iso-20022-implementation-global-payments-program-r2b-credit-wirth/): consulting, low level performance tuning with strong emphasis to Oracle RAC tuning, improving database schema and application design as well as JDBC connection architecture. Early evaluation of Exadata X5-2 Half Rack (Oracle 12c) as the potential platform for the Global Payment Program. Optimizing PL/SQL code for archiving/purging with exposure to DWH data processing simultaneously maintaining the typical OLTP constraints.
Also typical administration tasks; cloning, (low or no downtime) migration, troubleshooting, backup, restore/recovery

Migration and consolidation of 8 Oracle critical databases with national implications onto Exadata Half Rack platform.

Tasks:
Technical lead, concept and realisation of the Exadata related part (including migration). Preparing of and leading of Exadata Training (Exadata features for efficient data processing)

- Design of (HA/DR/DWH/OLTP) mature system architectures based mainly on Oracle products, solving complex performance problems in the enterprise multi-tier environment (appl-middleware-rdbms-storage). Backup and recovery strategies.
- Team management of Oracle engineers

- Supporting Oracle side of migration of highly transactional and 'no-transaction-lost' DB2 database to Oracle environment (HA/DR implemented with RAC and Data Guard). Key tasks: vertical (Sun T5250 and M5000) and horizontal (# nodes) scalability tests of shared RAC architecture, engineering of disaster recovery strategy, implementation of RAC and Data Guard environment
- Optimizing of highly transactional OLTP RAC database for throughput (Project: Transaction Study)
- Performance tests of Disaster Recovery solutions based on Data Guard with RAC/Remote Copy
- On-hands Oracle specific issues, mainly JDBC (Weblogic) connectivity in RAC environment, (RAC) performance problems

- Migration of company’s warehouse database (3Tb+, while providing constant access to the data)
- Design and implementation of Data Guard solution based on Oracle 10g
- Design and implementation of data replication between data warehouse database systems
- Design and build of future Database architectures as well as assisting with in-house development team
- Additionally: performance tuning (instance and SQL)

Background:

Team: 5 database administrators closely co-operating with other technical departments (e.g. Unix Dept., Storage Dept., Network Services Dept.) having close contact with the external clients.
Focus: 70 mid large and large, mostly highly transactional productive OLTP Oracle database systems, almost all operating with 24x7 availability demand. Distributed database and web environment placed in large data centres. Administration tasks also included application and web servers predominantly on UX (Solaris) and Linux (Redhat) platforms.

Key tasks:
- Designing/installation/configuration/adminitration/troubleshooting of production and development Oracle based systems on the following operating systems: Unix/Linux/Windows with managing knowledge of the following technologies/services: LAN/WAN, DNS, SMTP,
Web-servers (Apache), storage technologies (SAN/NAS)
- Designing and implementing of high availability (HA) and replication concepts for Oracle based systems (with RAC, Data Guard/Standby Systems, Oracle Streams)
- Performance tuning (also SQL) of Oracle based production and development systems, supporting Oracle developers (occasionally: preparing and leading internal workshops/training courses of “Oracle optimisation and performance tuning” for Junior Oracle DBAs)
- Backup and recovery day-to-day related tasks (RMAN)
- Technical project management

- Administering/backup/recovery of Oracle database servers in LAN/WAN environment
