A-one+ – Graduate Bridge Engineer

• Tiger Tail Sign. The design of foundation for two 6.6m x 7.9m motorway signs including base plates to the support posts and the holding down bolts.
• M53 Fina Canal Bridge Parapet Replacement. Design process and responding to all TQs from construction site of replacing substandard parapets and safety fence transitions on the northbound carriageway of M53 Motorway.
• M53 Junction 8-9 Vehicle Restrain System Renewal. Taking part in design and check of structural assessments of bridge/cantilevers for new CSB barrier and vehicle impact loading to IAN 97/07 and BD21/01. Taking care of all documentation required by HA during design process and finely assisting in responding to TQs from construction site.
• Various re-waterproofing schems that include: M6 Hole House Br; M53 Upper Mersey Street and Moreton East Brs; A56 Ewood Railway Br; M56 Wood Lane Br; M62 Moss Cottage and Winton Main Brs. I have produced a two stage feasibility reports (including Traffic Management options) and Design Risk Assessment for each structure for determining the best solution for carrying out the proposed re-wat and joint replacement.

• EA Structural Bridge Inspections 07/08, 09/10 and 10/11. Principal inspections and structural assessments of over 20 bridges of various types including: steel beam, prestressed beams concrete and stone masonry bridges.
• Metrolink Phase 3B Extension Airport Line Major Structures Concept. Design of two concepts of a Baguley Heavy Rail Crossing including costs estimating.
• Nile Basin Irrigation Scheme. Initial structural design of reinforced concrete retaining walls for various heights (up to 6m), and ground condition for
• Parapet assessment programme undertaken by Aone + for the bridges in Area 10. Various packages involving nearly 30 bridge assessments (bridge parapet, supporting element and pier assessments). Structural assessments for vehicle collision effects to BD44/95, IAN97/07 and to BD48/93.
• Feasibility study of seven bridges to identify and address the rehabilitation issues with the structures and to undertake pier impact and parapet assessments. Assessment of the supports and parapets was carried out to IAN 91/07 and IAN 97/01 respectively in order to determine the need for upgrading, strengthening or protection.
• Leeds Bradford International Airport Runway Repairs. Night-time inspections of 2500m long runway. Defects recording on drawings and photographically with reference information. Defect and repair identification, prioritisation and repair type advising.
• M74 Completion Detailed Design. Catt III checks of reinforced or prestressed elements for three bridges of various lengths. A 104m long Cambuslang Rd Br; 58m long integral Farmeloan Rd Br and 86m long Glasgow Rd Br were checked utilising mixture of hand calculations, computer modelling and analysis (SAM Leap, Superstress). During check works I have closely liaised with geotechnical engineers to produce methodology for calculations of embedded piles under cyclic thermal expansion/contraction loads.
• Caldew and Carlisle Flood Defence Scheme. Cat I checks on reinforced concrete retaining walls for approximately 670m of flood defence wall. Detailed design of some sections of the defence walls for approx 300m of the scheme.
