Temat: Verbal Victory 44th meeting - report

On 17th October Verbal Victory was a proud host to its 44th meeting in Toastmasters tradition. After last week’s exciting and organizationally challenging competition this meeting soothed the club’s strained nerves. Contrary to the theme of the meeting “Destination known”, we were faced with a sudden change of the club’s location – to the new building owned by WSB on Powstańców Wielkopolskich 2a. Disoriented members fortunately managed to find their way to the new room and the meeting went according to the agenda.

This was also the last performance of our prominent member, Treasurer and Secretary – Kristian Rother, CC. Although we are going to see him soon competing on the Area level in Humorous Speech and Table-Topics contests, his presence at regular club meetings will be sorely missed. His enthusiasm as the Toastmaster of the Evening made for some of the club’s most memorable events. He performed his duties as the treasurer with utmost diligence and professionalism which leaves his successor with big shoes to fill.

The meeting was a great reflection on the 87-year international tradition of the organization which had its birthday this October. The rapidly progressing and expanding star of the evening, Klaudia Prasek with her humorous speech on an anti-social version of Facebook had a group of a dozen Spanish guests evaluating her performance. The prolonged Table-Topic session had guests and members travelling metaphorically through time and space – to the ends of the world and various eras. Joanna Chmiel, CC, the General Evaluator represented the facilitating aspect of the organization splendidly while leading her evaluation team.

From leadership, facilitation to the worldwide growth of the organization for 87 years – that evening there was no doubt a Toastmasters Club is the place to be on a Monday evening!
