Temat: Does Anyone play RPGs in English?
Hi Agnieszka,
I should comment that the price (25zl/45 minutes) is the best price on a sliding scale. The scale has students commit to scheduled RPG sessions.
This is a different problem in an RPG business than RPG players who meet "whenever." Language students sometimes may not come to a conversation session for example in a traditional lesson - which is bad for an RPG continuous campaign. This can make for "NPC students" which is a problem both from a business-owner's perspective as well as from a players' point of view.
So the price of 25 zl reflects the commitment to 8 sessions on a sliding scale. The higher the commitment, the lower the price. This works to make sure people attend the first sessions because most students do not understand how important they are to the group until AFTER a couple of sessions when the learning experience is enjoyable.
Traditional conversation groups do not take group activities serious because, unlike RPG, the group is really not important. The price helps to break that habit.
So does eating a hot meal together! Plus the first session is a team-building experience (i.e. not much RPG) warming up students by using English in unexpected ways and creating a team of collaborative players rather than competitive students.
Session 1 bridges the difference between traditional "schoolhouse" conversation methods and conversation by RPG.
