About IPCCShort history of IPCC
The idea of formation of our Committee was born after the year 2000's Diwali celebration. Immediately after Diwali Indo-Polish Cultural Committee was formed with the aim of promoting Indian culture, celebrating Indian festivals, mainly Diwali and Holi, and strengthening the cultural bond among Indians living in Poland and Polish people. There are about 500 Indians living in Poland. Some of them are temporarily working in multinational companies and some running their own business. There are some Indians who live in Poland permanently with their families. One of the tasks of IPCC is to keep alive the Indian culture in this small community of Indian origin.
Mr. Umesh Nautiyal became the first President of the Committee, with the other founder members Dr. Marzenna Jakubczak - General Secretary, Dr. Charles Jung Dhari -Vice president and Mr. Jainendra Kumar - Joint Secretary. On January 19 2001, the opening ceremony of the Committee took place at Dr. Jung Dhari's office. His Excellency Mr. R. L. Narayan, the Ambassador of India in Poland, inaugurated the ceremony by promising to give the full cooperation of Indian Embassy in Warsaw in the Cultural activities of IPCC.
Since the time of the formation every year IPCC have been organizing Indian Festivals and Indian Cultural Weeks in Krakow and in other cities of Poland with the help of Indian Embassy in Warsaw and Indian Council for Cultural Relations in Delhi. All the cultural events organized by the IPCC have been attended by hundreds of people interested in Indian culture and art. On the occasion of Holi 2003 the Week of Indian Culture was organized in Krakow with a great success. Recently IPCC expanded in two big cities of Poland, Warsaw and Łódź, and to Silesia region. Dr. Janusz Krzyżowski became the head of IPCC of capital city Warsaw and Mr. Amit Lath is heading the IPCC in the industrial city Łódź, and Mr. Grzegorz Kuśpiel in Dąbrowa Górnicza.
Membership is open for all who are interested in Indian art and culture
