The Foreign Affairs ministers of Venezuela and Russia, Nicolás Maduro and Serguey Lavrov, agreed on speeding up the cooperation agreements and establishing permanent communication between both countries to contribute developing pending issues.
After a work meeting held in the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maduro and Lavrov also agreed on boosting the strategic cooperation alliance for peace and development.
The energetic issue was also discussed, both ministers showed their satisfaction for the achievements both countries have reached in the oil and gas field.
During the meeting, Minister Maduro largely explained the advances Latin America has had thanks to the effort of the governments and the peoples of the region. He explained Venezuela has paved the way for the developing of political, patriotic and nationalist tendencies.
The Venezuelan minister said their fights are aimed at the constitution of a geopolitical and geoeconomic space to conquer freedom, sovereignty and integration, that is, the new pluripolar world.
Mr. Maduro also said advances have been achieved by boosting integration plans such as the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of the Americas (ALBA), Petrocaribe and the Union of South American Nations (Unasur).
“The relations between Venezuela and Russia are better than ever because besides the important agreements we’re implementing, we’re going to establish a plan of new cooperation areas that will be discussed in the High Level Inter-governmental Commission, to be held in Caracas, next October 26 and 27.
For his part, the Russian minister said his country was interested in the integration process of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of the Americas (ALBA), and expressed this integration model agreed among Bolivia, Cuba, Dominica, Nicaragua and Venezuela is seen in Europe with great interest and expectations.
“We understand that Venezuela is playing a very important role in the Latin American integration process and supporting its partners and neighbours,” Minister Lavrov said.
Both ministers of Foreign Affairs offered a press conference in Moscow, where the Venezuelan minister Maduro pointed out the level of the relations between Presidents Hugo Chávez and Dimitri Medvédev, which are based on political confidence and started when the current Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was president.
Chávez and Medvédev have met twice in the last two months, and have reiterated common political positions regarding the vision of a pluripolar, balanced and peaceful world, without hegemonies, where international cooperation and respect for international right prevail.
“Russia is closer than ever to Latin America whiting its fight in defence of its sovereignty of international right and self-determination of self-determinations of the peoples,” Maduro said.
The Venezuelan official announced that an integral ALBA-Russia agreement is been developed, in which Russia can cooperate in the food field.
“This is a new Russia very clear in the role it is playing in the science, economic, technologic aspect and more and more in the political aspect, united to Latin America as two great poles, as two great economic and politic powers to achieve the world we are building, the world of dreams that seemed to be a utopia. Today this world is a reality; it starts to create new international relations, with new actors,” Minister Maduro said.
