Temat: Worst Film Ever

We had a thread recently on people's favourite films.

Whilst offering us a chance to to go back down memory lane, as well as reveal a little of ourselves to others, the contributions were marked by a depressing uniformity of quality and an unseemly hint of excellence.

In order to redress the balance, I thought it would be fun to ask people what they regarded as the most dreadful cinematic abortion ever committed to celluloid. The cheesy, the ludicrous, the unfunny, the predictably dismal and the dismally predictable.

Inside every Francis Ford Coppola, there's an Ed Wood struggling to get out, so it's time to give him his chance to speak.

I'll get the ball rolling and start with a mesmerisingly frightful (but not frightening) horror film.... Halloween 3.

Let's make it a little more difficult - give a reason why the movie should get the title of the worst cinematography product ever ;)

The problem is we usually remember good things in life, i.e. good movies ;)

But let's try:
- "Son of the Mask" - a terrible sequel to a really good comedy. Not even funny.

- "The Saw" - every part but first (that one had at least a fresh idea) or "Hostel" - I hate movies with unreasonable violence, eyeballs flying around, skin ripped off etc.

- "Closer" (I know, our Anglo-women want to lynch me, 'cause they usually love that one. No idea why;D). Booooring. I admire Natalie Portman, though. But don't like Julia R. after she had botox pupmed in her lips.

How am I doing, Tim? ;)

I really wish I could break this flick down for you guys, but I really think that it's impossible. The over all effect, leaves you sort of cringing. Wild women running the open plains of post nuclear world where half humans and half frogs battle against the civilized women who capture "breeders" (man still able to breed) put exploding/electricuting chastity belts on them and keep them like animals.

Grzegorz: I'm not sure how you're doing, especially as I haven't seen two of the three films you mention, but any film which features Natalie Portman lapdancing can hardly be a candidate for worst film of all time.

Rafal: Looks like your setting a pretty high mark. So high that I'm already trying to download that film on BitTorrent.

haha.. true... but it's one movie that always comes to mind when "bad movie" subjects comes up.

Nirvana, with Christopher Lambert.
I simply had no idea what the hell was going on. It is something about a future world where everything is computerised of course and nobody seems to be engaged in agriculture (how do future civilisations eat???) and there is a virus in a computer program that CL made and he needs to find some sexy woman (one of the French Seigner birds) and erm .... there are people after him... and I then switched off.

Reviews of it seemed to indicate that it is a masterpiece.

Just for the record, Hell Comes to Frogtown is an awesome B movie and hilariously funny. At least for the first hour. I have tried to go back to find out what actually happens in the end but I just don't have the stamina. Everyone should really see the first hour.

The worst movie of all time was Darkness.
There's something in this house... Something ancient and dark that remains still, hidden and silent. It can only wait, having been concealed in the shadows for years. In fact, its milieu is darkness. Only in it can it show itself and move. It even takes its name: DARKNESS. It's lived here since someone tried to call it, more than forty years ago. Because this house hides a secret, a terrible past, an inconceivably evil act... Seven children, faceless people, a circle that must be completed. And blood, lots of blood...

There's a big mess about a chick and the devil and a couple of dudes and the whole family starts acting funny, then they dig up the livingroom floor and they all end up in hell. The End. No real plot, despisable dumb characters and and an ending which makes you want to wretch. Actaully, the ending is cool - but it's literally the last 60 seconds. I left the movie theater with a grimace of disgust and self loathing for having sat through the whole thing. Well, my type is "Jackass the movie". It just got into first place, after "The saw" and "Scary movie".
"Jackass..." is a movie full of stupid jokes and guys doing stupid things just to see what'll happen.
I saw about 20 minutes of it, then I just tuned it off...

Anybody seen the recent Jodie Foster flick The Brave One? She plays a journo whose boyfriend gets killed prompting her to buy an illegal gun and stalk around at night gunning down perps. Bleedin hilarious.

Lidia, you broke my heart... :)

I like such romantic comedies... besides, his dances were really funny to me.
I don't know, maybe because I'm a musician, and there were many things related to 80s and Wham! in the movie...

Script might not be a good one, but the cast, acting, music was nice. At least for me :)

Not a great movie to watch at the cinema, but ok for renting DVD.

Samotność w sieci (loneliness on the Net)Polish movie, adaptation of a trendy book.

Boring, snobish, senseless, pretentious, irritating....
No chemistry whatsoever between the two main characters (played by Cielecka and Chyra)

definetely not for those with any problem with alcohol - 80% of the time somebody drinks something, I guess out of loneliness...

If I had seen it in the cinema, I'd have asked for refund for sure.
But I watched it on DVD, so the second half was on fast forward...

Ilter, you're right, the music and dances are ok. Especially the opening video in the 80s style.

But excuse me, the PLOT? So lame. Nothing happens. Were you surprised by anything? Did you laugh at any joke?

Not to mention that chubby Drew is far too young for the former sexy Charles from the Four Weddings... No chemistry between them.

Watched at home on my cosy sofa. Very disappointed.

Hehe, Wanda, the number of devastating reviews for this film is one of the highest in Poland I think.

I haven't seen it as real actors' couples put me off while playing together in the same film plus the reviews successfully prevented me from watching. Poor Wiśniewski is not my type of a writer, either.

But have you noticed the SOUNDTRACK in the film?
I was recommended that it is one of the best Polish film music.
It is simply beautiful, defninitely my kind of music that I can listen to for a long time. Not having seen the film also helps...
That is the paradox of this film.

Hehe, Wanda, the number of devastating reviews for this film is one of the highest in Poland I think.

I haven't seen it as real actors' couples put me off while playing together in the same film plus the reviews successfully prevented me from watching. Poor Wiśniewski is not my type of a writer, either.

But have you noticed the SOUNDTRACK in the film?
I was recommended that it is one of the best Polish film music.
It is simply beautiful, defninitely my kind of music that I can listen to for a long time. Not having seen the film also helps...
That is the paradox of this film.

The film was crap. No doubts about it.
Sickeningly pretentious.
I went to see it just for Magda C. whom I adore.
I also liked the loft the male hero (Chyra) lived in. Kinda strange building in the middle of nowhere.
And, yeah, the soundtrack is superb.
