Tens of thousands of people in Mali's capital, Bamako, have been protesting against a new law which gives women equal rights in marriage.

I didn't understand why they're protesting the law (then again, I don't understand the buttons on my shirt :) Nothing is being imposed upon them as far as I could tell from the article.
