Not only the citizens can be ignorant. I've seen many ignorant governments, state regulations, and laws.

How can you explain not looking at the Turkish laws, when you try to judge immigrants from Turkey in your own court?

I didn't question that the murder happened, only the sentence, (seven months probation according to Bernd).

The actual sentence was nine years in prison.

"The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is the second largest inter-governmental organization in the world - a 57 member-state organization that many Americans have never heard of. Only the United Nations is larger than this usually under the radar, but very important organization.

This week, the OIC will, in all likelihood, reintroduce a resolution to the U.N. Human Rights Council on "Combating Defamation of Religion." The title may seem less than threatening but the language the resolution contains is just plain dangerous to free speech. Since 1999, the OIC has introduced this non-binding resolution at the UN Human Rights Council and each time the resolution has passed with only slight modifications."
"Under the resolutions that have been proposed by the OIC, a Christian pastor who claims Jesus is the only way to salvation could be charged criminally, under a UN human rights resolution, for defaming Islam. Under the text of the resolutions, one need not actually say anything about Islam to commit blasphemy. Funny thing is, it's not just a group of fanatic islamists. It's "the second largest inter-governmental organization in the world - a 57 member-state organization".

How do usual muslims feel about what's being done by that organisation in their name? Are muslims around the world aware of this proposed resolution? Are they in favor of it?

7years and three months, I wrote. On probation. That's 1 year 7month of the actual verdict. Close enough ;)

@Ilter: I meant 'tolerance' as in: Those judges/people think they have (for whatever reason) to be tolerant or are in that way tolerant to foreigners, Turks, German-Turks or whoever :)

The German laws are fine. There are no changes needed. The way they are mistreated, not used, not enforced is the big problem...

Whatever, Bernd, this hurts me as I am Turkish.

They are clearly ignorant, because we don't let these kind of people go, in Turkey.

If those were a Turkish tradition, we should've been doing it first, am I not right?

Anyway, now it's clear, that they were prisoned.

Maybe your resources are ignorant? Or racist?
Maybe the place where you've learnt these things are trying to humiliate the Turkish nation and 'traditions'?
Have you thought about it?

Probation is not a prison sentence.

Since I'm not an English native, it might always occur that I get some vocabulary wrong. In this case I did and I don't know how to express it right. I guess I made this mistake as well in German. Sorry.

Anyways, the thing I wanted to say is: A sentence might be fixed or not-fixed. Meaning it can be 9years period, or less than 9years if he's behaving nicely. Is there a term for that?

I understand your feelings and would probably react very much the same if something like this happened somewhere else with Germans as perps.
My comments were not intended to excuse the people, nor to explain them. Rather to show what's going on inside of them, IMHO.

The fact that only one brother was sentenced, sentenced so softly and the arguments brought forth with it I find repulsive.
As I find it a mockery to commonsense and justice what is done in this and the other cases.

RIYADH - A Saudi court of cassation upheld a ruling to behead and crucify a 22-year-old man convicted of raping five children and leaving one of them to die in the desert, newspapers reported on Tuesday. The convict was arrested earlier this year after a seven-year old boy helped police in their investigation. The child left in the desert after the rape was three years old, Okaz newspaper said.
