Temat: Why do you like Poland ?
What do I love about Poland? Now this is something that is based solemnly on my own personal experience. I love Polish wild life, how you can still find plenty of places that are tourist free or tourist “lite”. Historical places, castles, bunkers, museums that just ooze with influence from so many different parts of Eurasia, the cultural clash, the free spirit, which lives in souls of many of this countries people and attitude. The DIY mind set that some call hustling. It’s placement on the map, although Andrzej Mleczko at one point made this great cartoon where he drew God holding earth in his palm and on both sides he had angels looking down… and he said something to the effect “So now, we will play a little joke on Poland and put them riiiiiight in between Germany and Russia”.
What don’t I like? The still existing and protruding communist era mentality of being blindsided by what you supposedly can’t do for yourself on your own, the “inside the box” way of thinking of a lot of folks. It is an insanely tight box I might add which allows others to prey on those who are simply trying to count their pennies and live to retirement.
Another thing that I seriously started to dislike is something that was actually brought to my attention after becoming a GL member which is the conversational snobbery. Usually when I sign up to other message boards where people discuss various subjects you have your geeks and trolls and message boards nerds and some cool people… but for most part people really don’t pay much attention to how you express yourself as long as you get your point across, realizing that internet is an international phenomenon, where people from all over the planet with interests that are only limited by the speed of your research get together virtually expressing their opinions on everything and nothing. Meanwhile here… well… more emphasis is put on how you are trying to get your point across than actually validity of your argument. This is something that I also noticed outside of the net… which is just lame.
