Nice place, I was there 12 years ago.

Still remember what was written in the Polish guidebook: "Exit Subway station by the elevator and go straight to the Museum. Do not go outside, it is too dangerous."

Still dont'know why. Maybe, because of those squirrels. 'Cause the only danger were fat, grey squirrels in the park. They were sitting there, ready to fight. And when I was trying to pass them by, one of them moved toward me and then stood on my way as if she wanted to punch me in ... well, in my ankle bone, I suppose. Scary monsters.

haahahaha... yea it's not that bad of an area. Even 12 years ago it wasn't so bad.

You know, things like that is what often makes me wonder about what sort of an image of NYC people have out east.

Such stories "You won't survive in NYC unless you hide somewhere safe, basement's ok" were told by people who got stuck in Greenpoint and hadn't been in the so called "njujork" for two or three years. BTW, by 'njujork' they meant Manhattan of course. Funny, it was just two or three stations away from their flats.

When I told them I was going to visit Harlem they were like "ok, could I borrow your whole collection of CDs, you won't need them anymore"

Anyway, I lived in NY for one year and it was eleven years ago. Doesn't matter, those guys who were so frightened are probably dead, killed by those squirrels or another monster, gadget or maybe a gizmo. There's so many of them in NY. I know, I saw it in da movie. Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is my favourite :)

And BTW: Is Łomzynianka Restaurant on Manhattan Ave still opened?

You know, I don't live in Greenpoint and never had, so I don't know.
I do agree with you however, a lot of people are scared shit less of this city.
