Temat: Whattya doin on New Years Eve?
Andrzej Dobrucki:
We're going to Rovaniemi, Finland on 31st on December. Hopefully we'll have a glance on the Northern Lights and not only snow.
Nevertheless Lapland's said to be a fun place to be at this time of the year :) Are we out of our minds to get to the Polar Circle where temperatures fall to -35 in winter? Hey, it could be fun actually!
I can tell you from own experience that it's not that bad when you get a nice snowman's combo to wear together with 5cm thick socks and 1kg worth of rubber boots ! you'll be laughin'... I've been there in January a few years back, and oh boy is it depressing to be there for a week, ha ha.. best to bring your own booze as alcoholism is a national disease ( fins drink more than poles) they have strict anti alcohol laws, no bottle shops anywhere in rovaniemi, your best bet is a huge hotel with a bar - they kindly sold me a bottle... On the bright side - bars open at 10am!
Husky farm is fun and snow mobiles rock ! I highly recommend the icebreaker trip and the ocean float. Polar circle border is in the middle of Santa Claus village ... there is a Santa post office where you get to send cards and letters to your friends with post stamps from Polar Circle Post Office... that's so Cool !!
Uh, and I hope you're not vegan cause they seem to love their salmon !
Have fun and tell Santa I was real good this yeaaaaar !!
