Ok! To be honest I forgot that my profile is written in Polish and it wasn't easily possible for people from "Anglosphere" to see who I am...

My english is advanced and it means that I reached such stage that I need to learn proper use of already learnt these thousands of english words. For example, let's consider two words which express the same thing: "extirpate" and "destroy". Can I use them interchangeably? I don't know it yet. I think "destroy a cancer tissue" and "extirpate a cancer tissue" are both correct. But this expression seems to me incorrect: "extirpate sb's hope".

So above is a reason for me to join you all - practicing colloquial english. I like to read talkings between native english speakers - such english is significantly more difficult for me :) This is a great opportunity for me to polish my english...

About myself: I live in Krosno, Poland (40km to Slovakia, 110km to Ukraine) and I'm a computer programmer (you know I'm one of these people who will destroy our wonderful world by programming highly effective software for robots ;) ) At my job, english is essential for exchanging documentations, technologies, etc. for implementing technical progress (until arise a new race of predecessors of todays out-of-date human beings - "homo robots" ;) )

As far as I know, "destroy" is more common.
"destroy a cancer tissue" and "extirpate a cancer tissue" are both correct.
I studied Biology (in English) and never heard of such use.
And one more thing, when it comes to cancer and tissues, the use is: "cancerous tissues" or "cancer cells".
And turning back to the subject... "destruction of a cancerous tissue" is a proper use.
expression seems to me incorrect: "extirpate sb's hope".
Probably a person who is using an online translator could put it this way.
But I'm not a native, and so, not sure about that.

as I said before I am not into introducing myself but as someone here said that shouldn't make me a bad person...

I am here because i prefer speaking/writing English rather than Polish because it's the second best after my favorite Macedonian which unfortunately is nowhere to be found here...
