Requiem for a dream - used to be my personal favorite

but the I saw The Fountain. well actually, I saw it 1,5 year ago in Luna cinema and got rly impressed cos it touches sth very personal there.. i can identify with hugh jackman in this movie

the last decade features also... Lost in Translation - this is where my love for Tokyo comes from..

Coffee and Cigarettes - Jarmusch, no explanations needed.

Paris, je t'aime - probably the funniest and touching movie about Paris

No Man's Land - a gripping angle on the futility-of-war genre.
Turtles Can Fly - same thing, Kurds.
Lost in Translation
Letters from Iwo Jima
Almost Famous - Coming-of-age 70's "Rock AND/or Roll," as the minister in The Simpsons calls it.
Mystic River
Hoppet (Leaps and Bounds)
House of Sand and Fog - Poignant, sodden, drivingly heavy. Not exactly the feel-good movie of that year. :)
The Piano

That's right, Andrzej. Exactly. It's an SNL short and they're stingy with those. I don't know why. I did the same. You can find some references to it but then they dead end.

I don't know why I thought it was funny. I might have been in one of those tired, punch-drunk moods...just fell over on my side at the end. But who knows? I might just as well have watched it with a blank stare on another day.
