So we all know that media are full of it, but here is an example that really made me chuckle:

“Wszyscy użalają się nad Amerykanami, którzy podobno mają u siebie teraz kryzys. Ale mimo krachu na giełdzie ceny w amerykańskich sklepach nawet nie drgnęły.

This is absolute rubbish! Prices of produce in the past few months alone went up substantially. I am now spending over 20% more on shopping then I did just few months ago. If you look at the price of gasoline, it’s been climbing steadily almost daily – logic dictates that if prices of gas are going up so does everything else.

A u nas? Z każdym dniem drożeje dosłownie wszystko - pisze "Super Express".

Gazeta porównała ceny w Polsce i w USA. Okazuje się, że za oceanem życie jest o wiele tańsze! Wydajemy więcej głównie na produkty żywnościowe, ubrania, benzynę oraz elektronikę.

Przeciętny obywatel USA zarabia około 4 tys. dolarów (ok. 9 tys. zł)

More nonsense, an average American makes little more than half of that. Making $4000 a month is well above the average. The averaged pay in the US is calculated with the 1% of billionaires and millionaires including so the actual number is seriously skewed.

So, what exactly is the point these lies?

I'm not sure haha.. I am not really well versed in Polish tabloids.
It’s a widely read paper by the US based Polonia. I can even get a copy of it at my
Egyptian owned corner store haha.. I don’t read it, someone sent me this article from Poland to verify this info. It’s just such nonsense.

To be honest I don't care if it's read by 10 or 10 mln people, it's still a rubbish tabloid like 'Fakt' etc.

... and the point of this article was to fill the gap in the paper with some scary, sad and terrifying story to show that everything in our country/file is in a black colours.

They both (but especially SuperEkspres like to get people really wound up (and that ain't hard here). They print provocative bile-filled trash to conform to the worst expectations of their readership and sell copies, rather like this tripe in UK.. Though in UK, newspapers don't show photos of suicide victims swinging from trees or the aftermath of car crashes. SuperEkspres isn't something to read while eating a cooked breakfast.

But at least they have plenty of juicy crime stories, which the 'quality' Polish newspapers tend to be a bit snobby about, and (I've never figured out why) they don't have so many adverts. Also, they have a genuine campaigning role against petty corruption and the erosion of old-age pensions and welfare benefits. I find looking through GW’s commentaries in the reader’s section simply mind blowing. I mean that is some grade A writing hahaha… it’s not quite like youtube, where every comment section turns into a race war of sorts, but it comes damn close to it.

Don't even think about how some of them comment on articles about the Middle East.

I often feel that way about some people who post on GL. I am helping with a pretty cool documentary right now that covers diversities in pretty much every aspect of the word. I am so curious how it will be seen in Poland… very curious.
There will be some interviews in this flick with some Polish Hip Hop artists that may cause stir not only amongst viewers but also fans.

After reading the title of the thread I found it pretty true its kind.
I mean, "Super Express lies". I know the magazine, and I think the lies in there are really Super Express. "You won't find such crap, earlier than anywhere".

never, oh never, should you care about ANYTHING that is written in Super Express, Fakt and some websites, too.

For instance, the whole GW portal is a complete rubbish to me, I mean, the articles have to be written by some young aspiring journalists cos I see so many mistakes (not only Vocab and Grammar) it just gets on my nerves and I always leave a comment ;-)

One of the most annoying and purely STUPID thing I have read was something about Leonard Cohen's concert in Warsaw. The author wrote that he will be doing a COVER of Jeff Buckley's beautiful song "Hallelujah" - I THOUGHT I DIE READING IT!*

My friend explained the phenomenon to me, meaning, why is GW online so much worse than the paper one.
They (sales depart.) simply want to keep the sale of the paper version up (profitable).
But then again, shouldn't the online version encourage you to buy the paper version?

* It was L. Cohen who made the song famous BEFORE Buckley (now dead) was even interested in singing!

Such title doesn't only sell the newspaper well, it also very nicely protects the publisher against claims based on the press law.
