Hi guys,
Would any of you recommend a good spelling workout book + cd set?

I only mean a set that enables foreigners to listen to words & numbers being spelled - that's why a cd's required, and make sure they got them right after they'd written them down - and that's why a book is needed.

I've digged the Internet up with no results so please please go shares with me if you've got any ideas!
Enjoy your day, cheers!

To my knowledge, there might not be such a thing. It would be hilarious if there was, tho ;) Go through some ESP course books, like English for Tourism maybe?

You can always get an audio book and get the same book in a .pdf format... that's what I do for my students...

Why would it be hilarious? - to some nations (including Poles) writing words down as they are being quickly spelled is a bit tricky, we tend to write 'e' as 'i' quite automatically for instance; that's why some workout could be helpful, I recon.

Books on pronunciation with CDs such as 'English Pronunciation in Use' for beginners usually have one chapter or at least some exercises dealing with spelling words/names. Unfortunately, I haven't come across any exercise that would test spelling numbers.

There is a Headway book series on pronunciation if you want to go the easy way. It's available for all levels from beginner all the way up to the advanced level.
"New Headway Pronunciation" is the actual title.

There are many, many others depending on what exactly it is that you are looking for. I prefer using realia and designing my lessons based around audio books with transcripts.

Most listening exercises leave lots to desire for the most part and a lot of times they sound very unnatural and usually have little to do with my student's career.

One of my students for example is at a C2 level and playing anything other than real audio books for him would be a great waste of time. At one point I had given him a copy of Stephen Hawkins' "A brief history of time". It turned into a series of classes on subjects ranging from quantum physics to things like technology and its impact on our everyday lives.

There are scores of Business books which you could also utilize depending on the level of your student. You can find them in audio sections at pretty much any book store.

Last but not least - youtube

In this day and age, you can just look around and find plenty of great tools.

Good luck...
