I don't use it at all. Created an acoount long time ago and forgot about it. I actually almost stopped using gg as well.

Skype may well kill off telecommunications companies. RIPI haven't got a land line where I live now so the only way I can conveniently phone my family back home is through Skype.

Man, it so is! I used it very extensively over the last year and a half for obvious reasons (ugh), then gave it up for a while, and now I try using it in moderation; unfortunately, it's a work tool for me, and I have a work account too (and a Skype phone) - which means I am not bothered by my Skype buddies for most of the time, phew.I am usually chatting with someone in the evening tho, and have regular sessions with friends form the US, which is often late at night (time difference).
Haven't used GG in years tho.

Skype may also kill off GG due to its extra features such as video call.Video Call in fact puts Skype ahead of Telecommunications companies to the extent that it is not only an alternative to them, but a better alternative!

it's a good communicator BUT only if you do off country calls.i don't use it cos i've got gg and facebook and that's cheap and is enough for me to communicate.
i actually feel better to write rather than call cos i tend to forget what i've wanted to ask in this very moment and that's why gg wins me.
+ if i need to call, i use my cell phone, i love to walk/do other things as well ( you know, multi-tasking) while talking so skype is just not a thing for me.

oh i do a lot of things while on Skype. Bluetooth is the greates invention ever :)

I'm a frigging gadget person, but this is because I work form home and also run some sort of a mobile office, as only have an office per se at the main school, and spend just a few days a month at the others, so need to carry laptop or, on less demanding days, a pda.Still, my cell phone bills are sky high, or would be if not for my having been a faithful Era user for years. I even text Dave A. sometimes haha :D

Skype is cool.But I have an eye on VoipRaider for its unlimited stationary/landline calls. You pay a flat fee for at least 3 months, then you're free to call without a time/credit limitations for 'free'destinations (which already covers all landlines of all known/popular countries).

I'm in the search for a different provider though. I plan to test VoipRaider... voice quality wasn't as good as Skype's previously, but will proceed with my 2nd test period/calls.

I actually like skype much better than GG. More friends on GG kind of forces me to use both.Forwarding calls and all that makes skype a powerful tool, if used properly.
