if you mean deleting posts, you should set up some rules first and let everybody know about them so people know for what reason their posts might be deleted.

I will provide some rules.But I would like to hear what everyone has to say first.
I would also like to give the moderating function to others (e.g. Joj) so I am not accused of bias.

I don't think it should be moderated. We're all adults here, I think we all have a pretty good idea of what is and what is not appropriate. I will still come and contribute either way.

What I recommend is just chill it right out when it's getting too personal.Rules could be: no personal insults, just good discussion. Everyone has the right to either agree or disagree. It's a realy good forum. I believe it to be one of the most interesting on GL for the simple reason that you can say what you want to say. People discuss things here that are way beyond anything else on GL. It's us that makes that special. There's a line to be drawn between "heated debate" and "slanging match"; I'd suggest a third party moderator to ensure we stick to the "heated debate" path.

The moderator's job would be pretty tough though.Whoever moderated would either have to be present 24 hours per day, which of course isn't possible, or would have to logon and review read pages of discussion which took place hours earlier, which surely is then too late.
I think that there should be no personal insults, and leave the rules at that.

I agree with steven. It isn't an open forum so let's stick to the rules.I mean we've been invited here. On my forum when personal conflicts occur, i issue a warren...erm,a warning and delete the posts.

Yesterday got very silly.
And I was to blame for this as much as anyone else.
I suggest that someone like Joj moderate the threads I'm involved in.
I agree that it's a very good forum. Over 1,000 posts in two weeks. That's amazing.
It has to be a 'closed' forum to stop idiots joining and destroying good threads.
Provisional rules for now:
(1) Anyone, who in my opinion, is destroying the harmony of the group will be banned.
(2) Any post, which in my opinion, is gratuitously insulting to either British or Polish people will be deleted.
(3) Any thread that degenerates into a personal spat will be closed or deleted.
And I take Steve's point about chilling out for a couple of days.
