Temat: Shopping spree!
Tatiana S.:
To provide a more light-hearted thread:
1 How often do you go shopping (not for groceries)?
When I have money ;) (sometimes I do it even when I don't but try not to let this happen too often - I hate debts). When I'm in Poland, my shopping experience is like having a regular lunch. When in London, it's like going to a fancy restaurant. ;)
2 Do you go to smaller stores/boutiques or the mall?
I usually go to shopping centres, but I really appreciate nice boutiques. In the UK, I particularly liked the posh, picturesque places such as Wimbledon Village, Richmond upon Thames or Brighton, which are full of tiny and expensive boutiques. I usually go window shopping there, but would occasionally buy something small to remind me of the experience.
I love shopping in Wroclaw, my favourite is Zielone Wzgórze (a small boutique selling artistic handmade pillows, quilts and all kinds of decorative bits and pieces). Every time I go there I buy myself a pillowcase or a tablecloth. They also have a fabulous trademark cat lying and purring on the radiator in the winter! ;))
3 Do you have favorite brands of clothes or shoes?
For clothes (western brands): I like Gap, Next, Mexx and Esprit for the posher range (and sales season), but I recently have only been
really shopping in Primark Oxford Street, where sales are round the clock and my favourite label is Atmosphere.
I usually buy shoes from Clarks, they're a sure bet for style and price.
I do buy Polish brands too (I like Tatuum and Grey Wolf for example and Reserved are great for cheap printed summer Tees, it doesn't matter that they'll be in tatters next season!) For shoes I'd go for Bata (although I think they're Czech) and Lasocki. Never bought anything by Ryłko, but I've heard they're good too.
And for accessories I go to a very nice, no-name wholesale outlet, where everything screams 'made in China' and is cheap yet great! ;))
4 What have you bought recently and why - was it because you needed it or to cheer yourself up? ;)
I definitely do buy things for pleasure - a good shopping spree is like going to a nice restaurant. But I avoid impulse buying, I'd rather arrange good shopping time when I've saved a nice sum and know I won't feel guilty for it. Maybe occassionally, when I decide I've worked my ass up and deserve a reward - I bought a pair of lovely red shoes from Clarks recently.
When In London, though, I kind of become a Mr Hyde and am known to have flushed 2 months' salary in 4 days. I seriously thought of checking into a rehab afterwards ;)) But this was my money, so all I had to do was tighten my belt for a while following my return to PL. I bring all kinds of hard to get stuff from the UK, like books, food and spices, some rare CDs etc. I also love Body Shop cosmetics, which in Poland would cost you an arm and leg.
5 Do you prefer going shopping alone or take someone with you?
When it's a new place, I'd go with someone, but I don't mind shopping alone.
6 Have you ever bought something totally unnecessary? What was
it?
Yeah, a pair of shoes from Nine West which were a) a complete rip off, even on sale, b) only worn once (they were meant for a wedding), c) a pain in the ass to wear and I spent weeks healing my sore toes and d) they didn' look that great after all. I learn from my mistakes though! ;))
7 Do you enjoy going shopping at all?
Hell, yeah! I wouldn't call myself a woman, otherwise! ;))
Feel free to add more questions and more insight if possible.
My question: do you like buying second hand stuff (clothes and other things)? I do. Both in PL and the UK (where I choose posh areas, they're a sure bet to find something out of the ordinary). But I don't buy vintage clothes, they're usually quite expensive and hardly ever fit my style.
