1 How often do you go shopping (not for groceries)?

When I have money ;) (sometimes I do it even when I don't but try not to let this happen too often - I hate debts). When I'm in Poland, my shopping experience is like having a regular lunch. When in London, it's like going to a fancy restaurant. ;)
2 Do you go to smaller stores/boutiques or the mall?

I usually go to shopping centres, but I really appreciate nice boutiques. In the UK, I particularly liked the posh, picturesque places such as Wimbledon Village, Richmond upon Thames or Brighton, which are full of tiny and expensive boutiques. I usually go window shopping there, but would occasionally buy something small to remind me of the experience.

I love shopping in Wroclaw, my favourite is Zielone Wzgórze (a small boutique selling artistic handmade pillows, quilts and all kinds of decorative bits and pieces). Every time I go there I buy myself a pillowcase or a tablecloth. They also have a fabulous trademark cat lying and purring on the radiator in the winter! ;))
3 Do you have favorite brands of clothes or shoes?

For clothes (western brands): I like Gap, Next, Mexx and Esprit for the posher range (and sales season), but I recently have only been really shopping in Primark Oxford Street, where sales are round the clock and my favourite label is Atmosphere.
I usually buy shoes from Clarks, they're a sure bet for style and price.
I do buy Polish brands too (I like Tatuum and Grey Wolf for example and Reserved are great for cheap printed summer Tees, it doesn't matter that they'll be in tatters next season!) For shoes I'd go for Bata (although I think they're Czech) and Lasocki. Never bought anything by Ryłko, but I've heard they're good too.
And for accessories I go to a very nice, no-name wholesale outlet, where everything screams 'made in China' and is cheap yet great! ;))
4 What have you bought recently and why - was it because you needed it or to cheer yourself up? ;)

I definitely do buy things for pleasure - a good shopping spree is like going to a nice restaurant. But I avoid impulse buying, I'd rather arrange good shopping time when I've saved a nice sum and know I won't feel guilty for it. Maybe occassionally, when I decide I've worked my ass up and deserve a reward - I bought a pair of lovely red shoes from Clarks recently.

When In London, though, I kind of become a Mr Hyde and am known to have flushed 2 months' salary in 4 days. I seriously thought of checking into a rehab afterwards ;)) But this was my money, so all I had to do was tighten my belt for a while following my return to PL. I bring all kinds of hard to get stuff from the UK, like books, food and spices, some rare CDs etc. I also love Body Shop cosmetics, which in Poland would cost you an arm and leg.
5 Do you prefer going shopping alone or take someone with you?

When it's a new place, I'd go with someone, but I don't mind shopping alone.
6 Have you ever bought something totally unnecessary? What was
it?

Yeah, a pair of shoes from Nine West which were a) a complete rip off, even on sale, b) only worn once (they were meant for a wedding), c) a pain in the ass to wear and I spent weeks healing my sore toes and d) they didn' look that great after all. I learn from my mistakes though! ;))
7 Do you enjoy going shopping at all?

Hell, yeah! I wouldn't call myself a woman, otherwise! ;))

Feel free to add more questions and more insight if possible.

My question: do you like buying second hand stuff (clothes and other things)? I do. Both in PL and the UK (where I choose posh areas, they're a sure bet to find something out of the ordinary). But I don't buy vintage clothes, they're usually quite expensive and hardly ever fit my style.

1 How often do you go shopping (not for groceries)?

Once a week. I love to shop for... presents as some people might know... I'm addicted to buying books in the "tania książka". Recently, I've found myself shopping online more than IRL though. Especially at domurody.pl!
I also love to go check out decorative stuff, but never go to IKEA.
2 Do you go to smaller stores/boutiques or the mall?

Malls, as often have to drag a four-year-old with me.
3 Do you have favorite brands of clothes or shoes?

Gap, Next, DKNY, and, in Poland, Orsay. For jeans it's always Wrangler. Shoes - Reebok, Hush Puppies, and anything that looks good. I have way too many shoes...
4 What have you bought recently and why - was it because you needed it or to cheer yourself up? ;)

CSI Las Vegas PC game. Not needed it but bought in case got sad and depressed while my son was away with his dad. Never even managed to get the cd out of the box though.
5 Do you prefer going shopping alone or take someone with you?

Unlike many other things, I prefer going shopping alone, and by alone I mean without a whining four-year-old. Other than that, friends are okay, as long as they understand why I spend an hour browsing books, and then go and grab any tshirt that looks presentable.
6 Have you ever bought something totally unnecessary? What was it?

Yeah. The CSI game ;)
7 Do you enjoy going shopping at all?

Depends on my mood. Sometimes I really go to a store to cheer myself up. Sad as it may sound.

Oh, I forgot Hush Puppies - they're lovely! I've still got a pair of black mules even though they're too worn out to look presentable, I don't have a heart to chuck them away...

There's a Hush Puppies store in Katowice. Breaks my heart whenever I walk by. Right on the way to my favorite restaurant, Tatiana :)

What, is the restaurant called Tatiana? That would sound cool! What food do they serve?

I'm kind of glad Olsztyn is only a smallish place. I'd be perpetually skint otherwise! As I was in LDN ;)

Yes. Tatiana's been in Katowice for over 30 years now. Ukrainian food and the best apple pie ever.

It IS yum! A bit too much whipped cream sometimes, but still great. V. nice place too. Unfortunately, there aren't many places to get good food in Katowice, and now only one vegetarian restaurant as Greenway went out of business. Crap.

Will have to check it out one day, then! Have GW gone bust? They're alive and kicking in Olsztyn...

Temat: Shopping spree!

such a nice topic...mmmmmmmmhm let's see:)

1 How often do you go shopping (not for groceries)?

in sale period (now) every other day just to check whether something I discovered a while ago is yet to be bought for reasonable price
2 Do you go to smaller stores/boutiques or the mall?

Due to my limited budget I prefer mall, dreaming about the day when I'll enter boutiques...but something tells me I'll stick to malls and second hands (the latter is my hobby)
3 Do you have favorite brands of clothes or shoes?

not for clothes, even tough I generally don't like anything from Orsay (too pink and predictable). My favorite brand of shoes - Converse, Underground and Get a Grip (from teenage days, I fell in love with my husband only after I fell in love with his GaG shoes long time ago)
4 What have you bought recently and why - was it because you needed it or to cheer yourself up? ;)

beach dress from AE woman, from sale of course. great price!
5 Do you prefer going shopping alone or take someone with you?

definitely alone. I don't like waiting for someone to try on clothes in a shop i am not interested in (read Orsay and the like) and vice versa - I often lose myself for at least an hour in a book shop so I prefer to be alone then.
6 Have you ever bought something totally unnecessary? What was it?

this could be a separate topic:)
7 Do you enjoy going shopping at all?

only when i have money. i don't like window shopping.

I'll add one more question

What is your best shopping experience? (most thrilling?)

Anjuna in Goa (India, or generally all the bazaars there)- the best market in the whole world. I didn't buy much but the bargaining was priceless, especially when the seller is running after you offering 5 t-shirts for the third of the original price he quoted.

Oooooh, I LOVE IT!!! I really love British rags, as they include more space for the errr... female frontal equipment :) There's a real cluster of second hand shops near my office and we rush there almost every Monday right after work to burrow in some fresh M&S, George, Dorothy Perkins and Primark stuff :)

Well, apparently no one went there in Katowice when the students headed off for vacation. We still have the Złoty Osioł though.
I love GW ideas for vegetarian food.
