Temat: say no to them or legalise?

warren whitmore:
If liquorice was made illegal I'm sure you'd get a lot of dimwits whose main topic of converstion would be how much liquorice they'd consumed, where you can score liquorice, the best brands of liquorice, so on and so forth.

Well, might be, might. But most of all people do drugs because they make them feel high. As Mark Renton put it - "we're not that f***ing stupid". Liquorice gives you no pleasure whatsoever (unless you're Scandinavian with limited access to alcohol)
If I was to start a group on goldenline called DO NOT JOIN THIS GROUP, I'm sure it would attract members. I'm equally sure that the stronger and more repetitive the warnings and threats I made against others joining the group, the larger the group would be.

Oh, If you are THAT sure, you will have just nothing against trying an experiment? I'm quite interested in the results as my prediction is: if it's only a restricted access type of group with nothing behind it - you may even get 3-5 members who will end up disappointed and that's about it.

I agree with Raf in his principles about the prison system as it relates to drug convictions in the US. Definitely legalize marijuana full blast.Joj Y. edytował(a) ten post dnia 01.10.08 o godzinie 05:25

[...] If you ban cigarettes or tax them so much that they will become to expensive of a habit it will spawn new black market so satisfy those who crave nicotine. It's already starting here in the US [...]
Well, it is not banned yet, but cigarette and tobacco products are HEAVILY tax-ed in Scandinavia. A pack of cigarette is about 10-15 bucks in Norway, it is about the same in Sweden and Finland.
When I was in Norway, I didn't want to buy cigarettes and although I was in a groovy atmospehere and among Rock musicians gigging and having the life style, I consumed much less.
When I turn back from Turkey after finishing projects, it takes a week for me to get back to normal life (with 1-2 cigarettes a day), because Turks smoke like hell, and you're dragged into it.

Okay, that wasn't related to drugs being legal or illegal, but I wanted to share my opinion.
Scandinavia > buying cigarette hurts. Almost like it is banned.ilter K. edytował(a) ten post dnia 01.10.08 o godzinie 09:21

how about alcohol? it's both - access limited AND heavily taxed in Scandinavia. Are you going to say you were gigging on coca-cola? (I'm dying to hear this :)Katarzyna S. edytował(a) ten post dnia 01.10.08 o godzinie 09:49

It's 100% related, nicotine is an extremely addictive toxin.
Cigarettes in NYC are $10... in New Jersey $7. When I was in high school they were $1.90 but then the price of gas was .79 cents per gallon vs. now $3.80 - $4.25 per gallon.
