Temat: Room for sex...

I've paid on two or three occasions, not to mention large sums spent on lap dancers :) One was the Coca-Cola girl, the other was an embassy worker met at a club. Just for the hell of it. It didn't differ from free sex, maybe they even tried harded than you'd expect, just to earn their money.

But maybe my scum-o-meter was already over the top notch, so I don't feel the difference.

There are girls who want your sports car (the "blachara" variety).
Some just go for real estate (I call them "muratorki").
Some go for a foreign passport (at least they did before the zloty gained value).
Some prefer plain cash.

I don't see any difference.

And yes, I still believe that love exists.Adam Lipiński edytował(a) ten post dnia 23.09.08 o godzinie 22:46

So it must be love, Tatiana, since they no longer carry any added value.

By the way, Dutch guys are the lastest fashion in Warsaw clubs :)

I wouldn't say I was exactly your 'fan' Adam, but it's refreshing to read the absence of hypocrisy in your contribution :)warren whitmore edytował(a) ten post dnia 23.09.08 o godzinie 22:51

Sylwia Łubkowska:
If this is so abhorrent then why so many people are up for it (on both sides)? I I think these days there's so much of it around and changes in society have gone so far that quite a lot of them say 'what's the big deal?' and mean it. I don't insist this is particularly 'healthy' but it becomes more and more a part of life and so perhaps it's an indication that life in general has become less healthy.
Maybe one day we'll wake up to find that shame attached to the idea of sponsoring is a thing of the past, just like the shame of being a 'bastard' born out of wedlock or a 'spinster'. I hope not.

I'd say you've probably got things the wrong way round, Sylwia.

One of the first 'serious' books I ever read was 'the worm in the bud' a study of Victorian sexuality.

Prostitution was far more prevalent in the U.K. in the 19th century than it is today.

The permissive society in the late 20th century massively reduced the number of brothels and the likelihood of men paying for it.

You'll probably find far more prostitutes in repressive, theocratic Iran than in secular, liberal Sweden.

I always thought it was because the society is permissive - in the 19th century LTRs were quite uncommon, not to mention other, liberal forms of relationships. Hence less demand for prostitutes.

That was my point.

I know. I think I got the quoting wrong, as I now see Sylvia's post is somehow missing.
I simply wanted to say that the society isn't getting "less healthy"; who knows, maybe in a few decades "sponsoring" will be widely accepted (I dread those times).
Com eto think of it, what else would you call most marriage arrangements in the 19th century?Tatiana S. edytował(a) ten post dnia 23.09.08 o godzinie 23:15

Good point. I've recently asked a famour Polish law professor (professor Pietrzykowski) about marriages in the past. His answer: "just contracts".

"Sponsoring" is a recurrent urban theme in literature, no matter if it's Pushkin, Balzac or Tuwim. Just a part of life.

Regarding Iran. True! They have a strong underground culture, with its sexual slang comparing feminine body parts to car parts :) They even rent buses, in which they party - I mean go the whole hog - with music blasting, hips swinging. And those Arabic girls look like straight from a fairy tale...Adam Lipiński edytował(a) ten post dnia 23.09.08 o godzinie 23:31

Still, women had limited possibilities as far as getting a decent job was concerned. The only option was to marry rich, and hope he isn't too old and gruesome (or old enough to die soon). Why do it now?

"Lay back and think of England" ;)

Seriously speaking, women have to consider not only their future financial situation, but also that of their children. Therefore, since they tend to earn less, the "liberation break-even point" requires more money than they currently earn. That's why they prefer to be on the safe side and still marry rich :)

I do not intend to have children.
I want to marry rich.
My girlfriend tends to earn more than me.
I hope I've attained the above mentioned liberation point ;)Rafał Janta edytował(a) ten post dnia 24.09.08 o godzinie 00:05

Rafał, we should not dilute our genes. If we are the ultimate development, why risk spoiling it?

I know guys of 50 who still go clubbing and enjoy the company of ladies. And only the boring types harbour the fear of solitude.

As for marriage, even the DINKY model, I get tired of one woman too soon to consider that option.Adam Lipiński edytował(a) ten post dnia 23.09.08 o godzinie 23:53

Good for you to be able to admit that. There's nothing worse than a man who wants to comply with social standards by getting married, and then realizes he'd be better off with a woman a day rather than a woman a lifetime. I mean this.

Does any man really want a woman a lifetime?
