If this is so abhorrent then why so many people are up for it (on both sides)? I I think these days there's so much of it around and changes in society have gone so far that quite a lot of them say 'what's the big deal?' and mean it. I don't insist this is particularly 'healthy' but it becomes more and more a part of life and so perhaps it's an indication that life in general has become less healthy.
The acid test for abhorrency in this case is as follows:
1. Imagine you have a daughter who is now a young woman
2. Imagine you find out that she's been fucking some richer man/ men for financial compensation. It could be a sponsorship deal. But for the sake of clarity, let's call it whoring herself. Let's say greed is the factor.
3. Or possibly she's been forced into prostitution through human trafficing or heroin addiction, or just fallen in with a bad crowd.
In which way would you react. Multiple choice:
a. Good on her! It's nice to see the young thing making her way in life.
b. I feel physically sick.
If you've chosen a, fine; it isn't abhorrent and is a totally acceptable pastime.
If you've chosen b, looks like it's abhorrent.

For me, it's answer B.I'd feel sick. Sick of the fact that as a father I've failed to provide other alternatives. Failure that I myself cannot provide enough security. Failure of the society that it's all somehow acceptable. Failure to move beyond the caveman mentality of man provides/ woman accepts. Failure to see bigger values than greed. In light of the above, an act of prostitution can be perceived as one of rebellion, of freedom, of embracing the value of one's own feminine body. For it is the body that allows the girl to liberate herself from the father's financial control.

As for the other comments, guys sometimes pay for it even when they get plenty of sex free of charge. It's like with drugs, you sometimes try it even though you're not an addict, but merely because of the thrill. Taste the illegal, the unknown. It adds a bit of excitement.
