To tell the truth I check from time to time, not only The Sun but others like Bild Zeitung. The rationale is rather simple, I want to know how opinions amongs the masses are influenced. Poeple say that every German politician starts his day reading Bild. Many have gone because Bild wanted so..;)

I agree. I never knew what to make of it (the Sun or the Daily Mail, etc). At first, the style seemed a bit 'hysterical' to me at times (i.e. so emotive it was sometimes difficult to get to the crux of the matter) and a bit difficult to read. I suppose the longer I spent in the UK, the easier it became, but I never really got to it.
Guardian was my paper of choice, but really, I felt most at ease with Metro and the Evening Standard - the sort of semi-tabloid, easy read just for knackered people to read in the evening on their way home.

I think this may the case, redaing Sun and likes requires more than the "simple" good knowledge of English... I can read Sun and likes because I used to live in the UK for almost 3 years.
