Temat: Roman Polanski Arrested on 30 year old charges

I'm not surprised that the victim, now a middle-aged woman, doesn't want to rake up the past again.

However, society has certain rules, and one of these is that you do not have sex with children.

Another rule is that you do not escape justice by simply moving to the jurisdiction of another country.

I don't get any satisfaction from seeing Polanski prosecuted, and I don't want to see him 'crucified'.

I simply believe that his fame does not place him above the law, and that he should face the consequences of his actions just like everyone else.

And seriously - becouse 13 yrs girls are obviously far beyond my scope.
But, well, still i think that the issue "if i did something" has nothing to do with this case as I have nothing to do with it. It's till what i'm saying - a private issue between a man and a woman and none should stir as SHE has no claims. Maybe it's harded to her that it was probably arranged by her mother (I cannot say it for sure of course, but i know there were such discussion). Maybe it's more painfull to her that the incident itself?

And as for hummanist, I think that the law should be a subject to the human, not the human subject of the law.

You've pretty much basically just said that a crime is a matter only between the victim and the perpetrator.. thank God that's not the case.

If it were so, anyone could just go around and, for example, rape people in from of everybody, then force them into saying it didn't happen.. and guess what.. if the victim claims nothing happened, well than, it didn't happen.

I read on the BBC(like wikipedia, but with sources) that Polanski and the girl settled on $500,000, but he never paid her. It's up to over $600,000 with interest now.

Irrelevant. The law says "Don't sleep with 13-year olds" If a 13-year-old sleeps with a 13-year-old, they are both breaking the law.
If one knows better than a "victim" if she/he was hurt, in my opinion the one tries to be holier than the holy God.

Yet cannibals are tried for murder even if their victims sign affadavits agreeing to be killed and eaten.
I think it's a great example of hypocrisy.

I feel the hypocrisy is that nobody mentioned the kiddyfiddling when Polanski was in Poland directing "The Pianist", or that he is treated as a national icon until arrested, when the whole debate arises and the same press that venerated his name is now (and sometimes at the same time) damning him, and playing up the persecution complex.
(ironic again )But well, he's a Jew, if u wanna - crucify him.
