I know he has many virtues, he just doesn't have sense of humour. Maybe for some people it's not important but for me having sense of humour is very important.

BTW he's not a genius mathematician, otherwise he'd won the lotery :D

I think having sense of humour is important for everyone :)
But not all are aware of this consciously.

BTW, being a genius mathematician doesn't make one stronger than the power of probability. And you know it!! :)

I say a certain amount of sense of humor is necessary when you forget to switch the phone off and get a frantic call at 11 pm, from a very irritated client. Has happened twice in the past few days. I'm no longer asleep now.

Or at work... I had a client ask what would happen to her bags once she checked them in at the local airport, and then got off the plane to change somewhere else. As she'd tried to impress me beforehand, talking about her numerous journeys, I started by explaining the whole baggage check-in details: how the bags get labels with airport names ("it shall say KTW-MLA") and a bar code, how they get from one plane to another, and finally, finished by saying: "and then, hopefully, when you arrive, you simply collect your bags. If not, please remember that TEE grants you free baggage insurance up to...")

Made me feel better :)

I like to laugh and to make jokes in a good company (friends, colleagues).
Met people without sense of humour? no!
But certainly there are some moments in life, that you are serious in yourself. You just should smile in sucha moments . :)

I've met quite a few Germans socially and at work, and most have had a great sense of humour.

Bernd, why do you think Germans have this reputation for being humourless?

Can Germans laugh at Basil Fawlty, I don't know if you know that episode of 'Fawlty Towers', and the film 'the Producers'?

I think sense of humour is overrated. I am always telling jokes and being humourous and have since lost all my friends.My wife just politely pretends she doesnt know me.

I've recently been exposed to Australian sense of humour a lot for a couple of weeks and I admit, it's quite hard to remain a friend:)

It's like this with one of my brothers. But he wears you down liike a boxer and eventually you're on the floor. :)

I've never had problems with people having "difficult" sense of humor.

5 years in basically boy-only high school followed by another 5 years at university, where I could count all girls without having to take my shoes off, was a good school.

The trick is not to take jokes too personally.

Being able to dish em out helps too.
