Temat: Pearls of wisdom

What "pearls" of wisdom have you learnt in life that you could share with others. It can be something practical time saving,inane even.
Dont believe in giving an honest opinion about your girlfriends/wifes haircut even if you dont like it.Honest opinions will never be welcome.

The best coffee is made by mixing the milk and the coffee first and then adding the water. You will even taste the difference.
Now the inane...
If you drown a fly you can bring it back to life by covering it in salt.
Leaving a bottle of water in your garden prevents dogs from shitting in the garden. Based on the premise that a dog will never foul up its own water system.
Anyone got more to share?

I am sorry but Im not as sophisticated as you guys. In the morning I drink the instant stuff but believe me it works for me. Of course if I had the luxury of time to make real coffee I would. But try it. Add coffee to mug then milk and sugar(stir) Finally add boiling water. This way it doesnt scald the coffee.

I do drink instant :S

A coffee related piece of street-wise advice, not really a pearl of wisdom, though:

when in Italy and asking for coffee, make sure you order AND receive your coffee before you sit at a table.

Otherwise you'll also be charged for "the service", which basically means the barman bringin you the coffe.

Hence why I used the inverted commas with "pearls" of wisdom. Ok to better phrase my question what pieces of street wise,home wise,work wise travel wise advice can you impart to other that you have learnt?
ie: stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday after you reach the age of 11.

When being offered 'coffee or tea' choice at even most posh law firms or notary offices, make sure what kind of coffee they serve.
Some still serve instant in duralex cups.

Do you think we could have an Ozzie thread run by you on how you see Poland, cross-culture etc., please?

When in Italy and you're a man being introduced to a woman, do not kiss her hand. Opening doors for her won't earn you any credits either, but feel free to do it if you're used to it.

Another thing I have learnt: Never allow a mechanical object to realize that you are in a hurry.

There is never anything missing like screws or bolts from something you have bought in IKEA.You have fucked up making it.

I'm going this morning to meet a man who decided it would be wise to express his indignation over being jilted by his partner by throwing himself in front of a moving truck. Three months post, he's just now starting to realize he is not a carrot or a lamp orsome other thing.

That's better than one of my neighbors who, over 15 years ago, decided it would be wise to jump off a 10-floor high building, screaming "I love you!" at the top of his lungs, as he fell to the ground with a thud. His girlfriend must have been thrilled to discover how much he'd loved her.
