The point I was trying to make is that ppl could have a normal discussion and express their points of view if they want without offending anyone. It doesn't really matter if I agree with the articles or not and it doesn't really matter what's the comments in the Guardian are. We are talking about GL right now. just don't think it was necessary to speak about pani Ola this way and gang up on her. Is it really impossible to put some criticism across without being really nasty and putting someone down? I don't think her behaviour is childish. I would not spend my free time having discussion with ppl who calling me names and are completely disrespectful to me.
Of course that being a journalist means putting your work under constant judgment, that's fair enough but nobody has to accept offensive comments, names calling etc.I don't think that accepting this has anything to do with being a professional journalist..

Let me rephrase the question. If a foreigner would settle down in Poland and got a gig at some major news paper and in that very news paper he would say things like: “Poles could really learn a lot from my people, the amount of morons that I come across daily is simply staggering. I have to pretty much pretend to be a complete moron in order to hold a comprehensible conversation. These folk never smile, they are the most miserable, unfriendly and gray nation….” And so on and so forth… how would you react to a statement like that? It’s preposterous that anyone would use such blanket statements after residing in a country for just few years. I have lived abroad most of my life, granted I did not attend the Jagielonian University and may not have the book smarts of pani Ola, yet I have enough common sense to know better than to judge an entire nation by what I have read, seen on TV or learned through my minimal interaction. If that was the case, I’d say that Americans are fat, ignorant, arrogant, stupid, can’t speak well, are absolute war mongers and they all love bad cinema… but that would make me sound and look like an idiot wouldn’t it now?
You say that we gang up on her. Let me explain something to you, when a statement is made that offends a certain nationality, representatives of that nationality are usually ones to speak out first, followed by persons who strongly disagree with the statement and feel that those opinions do not represent their own, nor do they have anything of actual value to them other than offensive, uneducated pointless babble. Pani Ola, decided to represent the Polish nation in her articles, I have yet to come across a single Polish person that would agree with her articles. When approached and faced with an inquiry into her opinions she turns, runs and hides behind the vale of personal attacks.
Well, that brings forth an interesting point – when you are writing on a public forum, for a well known paper, or an online blog, what you have to remember is that PUBLIC means everyone and their mother can read it, judge it, voice their opinions regarding it and most likely challenge you in regards to certain points made. If you are unwilling or unable to cope with such actions, you should firstly stop making your opinions public and secondly maybe learn more about cultures that you decide to critique …. Definitely learn more about your own which you are pretty much putting in a not so positive spot light.

True. Again I feel it's just useless to try to communicate with Ola - she's like a little girl who's done something and does not feel responsible for that at all. Good job Patrycja, I am surprised that you even bothered. I wasn't holding a breath expecting a debate.

Given the recent developments on Pani Ola's Blog, I think i will have to resign from "Antykariera" and from "Chamy i Prostaki", to give my posts much needed weight.
