Steve, some say that Munch was very much inspired by Dante Gabriel Rossetti's painting entitled "Pado and Francesca da Rimini.
Rossetti's paintings are wonderful.

I like Magritte as well! There's an excellent essay by Michel Foucault inspired by that painting. Foucault focuses on the role of art in representing the reality and discrepancies between the "represented" and "representing":

That's an easy one.
She's thinking: "I'm a vertically challenged girl with a fat ass and shortish legs. I wish I had the courage to drown in that sea."
