"Do you agree that having a child takes away some certain pleasures of life forever?"
I didn't want to mess up with the FFF, and the question doesn't seem fit for a separate thread (not too many of us here have kids, or kids that we all know of), but I find questions like this so stereotypical. I am often asked, by new mothers, if it's true that a child turns your world upside down. A child never takes away any pleasures, as long as you understand that having a child is almost a lifelong commitment! Of course, you won't be able to go out every night, you'll have to go through sleepless nights, experience projectile vomiting and green poop, then nightmarish tantrums, but having a child is so rewarding! True, I am often fed up with my son, the same way I am often fed up with the rest of the world. There are days when I gladly send him off to the grandparents, and days when after he's safely handed over to the teacher, I sigh with relief. I do spend more time at home than I used to, but, on the other hand, I am now able to enjoy more things I stopped doing a long time ago (clicking LEGO blocks together or painting glitter pictures are good examples).
Traveling constitutes no problem - we've flown places together, enjoyed car rides (a little motion sickness never killed anyone...), we go hiking in the mountains (carrying a 16 kilo load on your shoulders is great for shaping your calves), and I went back to work when he was about 6 months old.
It's all about priorities - if you never manage to sort them out, you'll end up wishing your kid had never been born.
