I'm not surprised, but I would say that all such judgements are subjective.

Not a single English restaurant where I live, either. I did get invited to a few English lunches and dinners in the UK and the food was ok. Nothing really amazing though

Come round to my place for sunday lunch: roast chicken with sage and onion stuffing, roast potatoes (roasted in duck fat), and carrots roasted in a honey glaze of chilli flavoured olive oil, all topped off with a gorgonzola (ok, it's Italian.. but hey, I'M English!) sauce... and you dare tell me you don't like English food!!!It's a challenge. I've thrown down the gauntlet. Pick it up!

... and what about cheese and onion pasties? Bingo! One of the first things I do when I get back to Britain is head for a bakers and get myself one of those things! Oh yeah! Hits the spot!

Eh, that's what I suspected, but was too lazy to check. Well, they were added to English Breakfast at New Malden Tesco eatery, so I just jumped at the conclusion... but they're served at McDonald's at the same time ;)
Anyway, they're my favourite junk food and I once ate 10 of them at one go (Tesco Value) and fell sick ;)

Yeah, now that you say it, I realised that they weren't served anywhere else. Plus the name 'hash brown' sounds kinda American. Still was too lazy to check & avoid displaying my blaring ignorance ;P

No idea why :P
There are Indian, Italian and Chinese restaurants in Szcz.
Generally speaking, they don't have a great deal in common with Indian, Italian or Chinese cuisine.
And a pub serves an English breakfast unrecognisable to an Englishman.

They're served a lot these days, but they weren't in the past.

Why do Chinese and Indian restaurants in Poland always serve a revolting side-salad that has nothing to do with Indian or Chinese food?

The better restaurants don't do that. You won't find any surówki at Tandoor Palace in Warsaw or Taj Majal in Gdynia.
However, I'm always dismayed that the excellent vietnamese fast food joint in Warszawa Centralna insists on serving surówki with the fantastic food they rustle up fresh in minutes. There's so much of it and it's so good that there really isn't any call for surówki... it always ends up in the bin. What a waste!

I definitely wouldn't mind a good English resto. Like I'd die for a simple stilton & broccoli soup (ok, it is English, isn't it? I'm losing my confidence now).Or lamb & mint (not lambchop, mind you, unless it's really well done) but I'd kill for a lamb burger. Or even a pasty!

True, we have a chinese one serving surówki too - I eat them because I've long lost hope it's ever going to be anything like in the UK, or Warsaw (I know there's a big Vietnamese community there). And our Polish sajgonki have a lot to answer for.
And I soo miss an old good Indian takeaway it's not true.

And the food was excellent, including the baffling egg in my chicken masala, and excluding the frivolous decorations.
Might go back to have more!
