When one needs to do some stuff that one haven't done yet, there's no other way but read instructions.
I wonder what do you do when you go and buy a descaler for your kettle... you call descaling workers to get rid of the 'stone' from your kettle?
Maybe you don't have a kettle?
Maybe you don't do anything which involves some reading?
Wait a minute, maybe you don't have a life?

there are also these picture instructions, like IKEA has them

in principle you should be able to assemble your furniture/lamps yourself by following the instructions step by step

quite a challenge I'd say - never works for me, i.e. I always do it twice before I know how to do it

Why are you even discussing reading instuctions? Life is not bloody short but its feels shorter if like you,in your 50's and still beating away at a keyboard. Lidia I speak no Polish but I get your point however I find it offensive that someone can start a discussion on not being able to read ingredients on the back of a product because I think its bordering on chronic dementia.Its sad but its nevertheless incredibly boring. Perhaps his observation should be on a thread about poor eyesight.

Maggie you see I think people like you should eat dolphin and shark meat once in your life, wear an expensive fur coat once, wear something or eat something that your conscience doesnt allow. I find it hilarious when you can actually pay IKEA for giving you an opportunity to make your own lamp, purchase paints and brushes for it and 'make it the way you want it', and let you believe it's a low-budget solution :D
