Tatiana, I think it is coded into the brains of every female on this Earth.
Usually men has to earn the bigger part of the income, women has to feel safe giving birth to the child.
Although you might differ from the cliche, this is how it is.
Women expects better 'performance' in such matters. Whether they are aware of it or not.

Well, if you have a child, you need to plan years ahead. Both parents do, whether they do it together or separately. Of course, being able to provide for your family is important, but all depends on how high you set your standards and what matters for you in life. Like, I'd gladly give up most of my financial comfort for some emotional one, but not by means of BUYING it, if you know what I mean.

I'm with Ilter on this one. As argued in the acceptable age difference thread, you may well see a beautiful young woman with a middle aged man. You can bet your last dollar he's not poor. It's a
cliché. It's the sugar daddy thing. And it doesn't work the other way round. You'd rarely see a young guy with a middle aged woman.

It's hard-wired in. Like it or not. Women want security. They'll get that from a man of wealth and status.

Provided they are hot, long-legged brunettes who go well with that status. Surely, a woman will look for financial stability, but the question is to what extent; some will be content with a small apartment and a bike, while others - like the woman in the article - will look for a house and an expensive car.
I believe now it works the other way round too, with more and more women being financially independent and often wealthy; since they don't have kids as too late (although, in the light of women having kids at 70...) they "adopt" a young guy.
Sometimes, though, it looks as if people got married for money, while it was genuine affection, love, and understanding. So, in conclusion, best to marry someone not of the same social status, but with the same things in mind (as for what future should bring, not the kink!) so that you can both look in the same direction.

Now, I should be the last person to give such advice but hopeless romanticism never hurt anyone yet. :P
