First we'd have to take into consideration the probability existence of an intelligent life...

Now, since they've reached us, it can only mean that they have also found all of the signals that we've been sending into space - TV, Radio etc etc... so now they know our history and our behavioral patterns... what would you do, if you came across a planet, who's inhabitants are so god damn violent, selfish and greedy? If they are civilized and peaceful, they most likely would have just passed us by wishing us good luck and hoping to come back in few hundred years ... otherwise, they would be here to either teach us a lesson, or take over... caution would be advisable.

I think it may be true that they have already been receiving our broadcasts and media for the last umpteen years, and so have decided not to make themselves known. I don't blame them.

I think we should greet them like we greeted them in the "Mars Attacks", and kick their asses -just like Keith adviced- like in "Independence Day".

If they insist on sneaking in (like in "Signs") first, let's cut their balls to give them the message "who's the boss now?".

If they are as strong as in "War Of The Worlds", we don't even have to worry, they will be dead in couple of days anyway.
My mosutache and beatyfyl smell coming under my arms will make them vanished from the face of the Earth (and that's going to be the new block buster from Warner Bros. Shh, don't tell anyone).
