It's like the British version of Bill and Monica... I always thought that the British press would be above this sort of nonsense. It always amazes me that someone's bedroom behavior attracts more attention than their political agendas. I guess people need to get laid more.

I don't really think it is like Bill and Monica.

Bill was a naughty boy, but so what? As far as I'm aware he never preached to anyone, nor pretended to be 'holier than thou'. His infidelities may have been a problem for his wife, but should have been a non-issue for the general public.

Iris Robinson is different. She comes from a party of narrow-minded, evangelical Protestant bigots, who believe that not only gays, but also Catholics are damned. Here is the leader of her party denouncing Jan Pawel II in the European Parliament as 'the antiChrist'.

Iris Robinson is on record as stating that homosexuality is an 'abomination' on a par with paedophilia. She also condemned Bill for what he did. The relevant quotation in the bible for her is:

'Judge not, lest ye be judged.'
