Temat: Guardian: UK Poles attack Daily Mail 'bias'

"The Federation of Poles in Great Britain has "reluctantly" filed a complaint to the Press Complaints Commission accusing the Daily Mail of defaming Polish residents in the UK.

In its letter of complaint to the PCC the federation accused the Daily Mail of printing articles that gave rise to "negative emotions and tensions between the new EU immigrants and local communities".

But the Daily Mail has strongly rejected the complaint, with a spokesman telling MediaGuardian.co.uk that it is "not in any way anti-Polish" and pointing out that the paper ran plenty of positive stories about people from Poland."

If you find a positive story about people from Poland published by Daily Mail, could you please let me know?

BTW, the Guardian headline sounds ambiguous, doesn't it?

Rather than write about it in an obscure blog, if it is true why doesn't the author get his story printed in a rival newspaper to the Mail?
There are some aspects of the Mail that I like as there are some campaigns that I agree with, however whenever I see it when I go home (my dad reads it) it looks more and more like a parody of itself with its stories of foreigners/MPs/politically correct/benefits claimants cheating hard working Brits/banning British traditions, etc.
I must say that there have also been lots of positive articles about Poles. Most are along the line of "hardworking Poles helping us by doing jobs that lazyarse Brits can't be bothered with"

I agree that The Daily Mail prints articles both praising hardworking, educated Poles and also attacking foreigners for this that and the other. If they've printed something perjorative, then the Polish community have the right to complain.

It's also true that some Polish newspapers and magazines can be downright nasty about the British from time to time. Nothing ever seems to happen about that, and the Polish authorities probably wouldn't accept a complaint from somebody without a PESEL anyway.

It's part of press freedom that newspapers sometimes say things that offend. The issue is when they cross a certain line, and where that line lies.
