(& was working couple of times in Gdańsk Shipyard on short-term projects :)

But it is real, completed in 2004, before it was XIX-th century power plant Olowianka...

However instead of 'art nouveau' (secesja) example as it is that house in Katowice
in a thread subjected 'gothic'
I would rather mention an unique workers borrow
in (neo)gothic style
namly the Nikiszowiec
with its famous family houses (familioki :)
gates and St. Anna Church
in deed.

Gosh!
I saw it when I was this year in Gdańsk
but from the opposite side - Długie Pobrzeże (Long Ashore ?)
which seems to be visible in the background of that picture.
2ndly - it was dark already, when we were walking along it.
But, I need to admitt - from the Olowianka's side 'n' at daytime it looks much more attractive.

Well, to be honest when I was told there was a castle in Malbork I was expecting to see something quite different.... For me, the Malbork castle just doesn't really look like a castle should look.

Next time take a ferry to the other side, visit the maritim museum including Soldek ship and walk around Olowianka...

This is the real castle
- just look on it on some other photo
or much better live.
Well, to be honest when I was told there was a castle

Boringly multiplied round towers everywhere...

M8, it looks like a ... not a castle but ...hmmm ... mass-production-line-made toy,
namly for boys 6-9 yrs old just for playing the leaded-knights games.

The only thing which is worthy to pay some attention on, is the stone bridge.

That one reminds me of Jan Marten, the Polish buccaneer - my childhood hero from Meissner's trilogy. Apart from the adventurous content, there were highly evocative, aptly written descriptions of the town.

Yes, being in Zieleniak is the best place to be. That way you can't see ..... Zieleniak.
Unfortunately in that district there are another couple of tall buildings and there are plans for several more in the Młode Miasto district (though since some of the plans are from Spanish developers they probably will never happen).

You know Steven, all this looked different ages ago. When I went to high school round the corner, they started erecting the towers. Then I made my degree at Politechnika in Gdansk some 9 years later and Zielniak still was not finished...;)

The building itself is quite interesting and was very difficult to build as the muddy soil there is not too friendly for such heavy structures. When the towers were completed they started building the floors, starting from the very top one. It was quite unique technology those days.
