Why should the man pay?
Stereotypes are vary strongly embedded in our culture. It's always been this way.

In that case, shouldn't women be stuck at home cleaning the kitchen?

and some of them try to show they're as 'strong' as men :

I am woman, hear me roar, if you don't open my door
I can do anything that a man can do, but I don't have too
Oh the female sex has a lot more class
Unless we're lookin' at a male stripper's ass
I'm a twenty-first century gal, but I can't set my VCR

But this makes me angry, that hepatitis is so common in these 'sterile' conditions. So I don't donate blood.

And I know B or C hepatitis patients. It's awful.

As I said before, Ilter, in an emergency this wouldn't be an issue.

Edit: that's why I'll never get a tattoo, either.

Same here.

I'm pretty sure this is the cause of the AIDS epidemic in Africa, (unsterilised hypodermic syringes).

I read it was apes who passed HIV on people. Chimps to be exact.

Then unprotected sex.

1. Have you ever donated blood? What was the reason for doing it? If no, why haven't you done this so far?

No - for medical reasons (I have toxo).

2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs, politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?

Lech Janerka, Richard Hammond, Ania Dąbrowska.

3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.

It's rather impossible for me to browse such websites when I'm at work (i.e. when I run classes), but sadly, I did get a bollocking for not completing my work on time (some paperwork or translation) - and surfing the net (not just GL) was definitely to blame. That's why I forced myself to stay away last week in order to finish what I was doing. This may happen again (it's like an addiction: there were many times I promised myself to enter just 'one' comment - and, you guessed it, I got sucked in for hours ;))

4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?

Not really. I think current fashion influences me to a considerable degree (I'd thought that I'd never put on anything yellow until this season).

5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?

Yeah. I'd say splitting the bill even (i.e. without looking who ordered what and how much it cost) is what I normally do. Obviously with that said, both sides should be reasonable about what & how much they order.

Warren...

Why do you doubt this?

There were mass vaccination campaigns by the U.N. to eradicate various contagious diseases.

O.K., this is just a theory.

ok, if you look at it as the original cause then maybe yes, I'm not an expert on Africa

I somehow thought that all African AIDS victims (especially nowadays) are sick because of non-sterile syringes!

and I have a very vague feeling that it's rather unsuitable to compare conditions in Polish and African hospitals

I wouldn't be sure of that.

I've heard from a reliable source that hospital conditions in some African countries are superior to those in the U.K., for example.

And still is. Possibly because not so long ago women had low-paid jobs or stayed at home altogether, and when you went out, it was always the man who was able to pay. In return for some favors. Some Polis men still think this way. Pathetic.

Why is that?
Theoretically all is sterile and proper, etc. Maybe I'm a little scared.

But the first thing my doctor told me as she was referring me to hospital for an operation last year was that I should get the A and B hepatitis vaccination before I was admitted there.

That is a standard procedure anywhere in the world. I know a guy from Milan who got HepC in Milan during transfusion. Not in Dhaka or Rangoon.

why?

blood donation is a vast topic in fact. I was just explaining my mistrust to (Polish) hospitals

where I come from, close to the German border, kids (teenagers) go to Germany to sell their blood or blood plasma to have cash for drugs, partying and entertainment - I read it in the local paper. maybe the scale of the problem was a bit exaggerated but quite probably true.

why?
Italian hospitals have the worst reputation. Numerous cases of people getting infected with some shit during their stays in hospitals have been reported in the media.

At least 5 people have died in Italian hospitals in the last year or so (that I know of) due to the medical stuff's malpractice.

1. Have you ever donated blood? What was the reason for doing it? If no, why haven't you done this so far?

No, and not going to. I'm not a charitable individual and we don't have a war going on.

2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs, politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?

Bill Clinton, Mick Jagger, Flavio Briatore. Perhaps Berlusconi could join. Just the guys who enjoy life and know how to succeed.
3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.

No, I've always worked for myself. Besides, I'm not addicted and browse with moderation.
4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?

Purple. It signifies a woman's emotional immaturity.
5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?

I've never let a woman pay for herself and am never going to.

1. Have you ever donated blood? What was the reason for doing it?

The first time I went as I wanted to have an HIV test and was too scared simply to go for one. After that I went a couple more times (in the UK as a student) simply because it cost me nothing and might have done someone some good. When I lived in France I couldn't as they banned people who had lived in the UK for more than 6 months due to the 'risk' of transmitting Creutsfeld Jakob (however you spell it). I'm not sure what would have happened if you'd been there for only 3 months and eaten beef every day...
2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs,
politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?

Are these the famous people that we have slept with, etc. (F4F passim)? I really don't have any preference. If it was some great lady I'd feel self-conscious eating in front of her anyway.
Maybe Bob Monkhouse, a British comedian, but they'd have to dig him up first.
3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook,

No, but in my old job there was a British student who made no effort integrating, working hard etc. All the time you could see FB or football websites on his screen. A colleague in his department told me that she had some work for him to do and rather than tell him directly she sent him a message to his Facebook account :))
4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?
No. In terms of clothes I feel uncomfortable looking down at myself and seeing bold, pure primary or secondary colours. However, sometimes that is just me being too sensitive.
Going Dutch[/url] on a first date - what's your say?

What about going French?
If it is someone that I have known and plucked up the courage to ask out, then I'd pay. If it was just a first meeting from some internet dating site then I think that going Dutch is fair as you can meet many people (as can the girl) and never see them again. It would be expensive if you paid 100% every time.
I didn't become a rich Englishman by spending my money on women ;)

I doubt that a large proportion of new infections are caused by non-sterile equipment, except in the worst worst places where they have to choose whether to let someone die for the lack of an operation, or risk later death due to non-sterile equipment.
I think that all medical staff are fully aware of procedures and risks now.

Desperate drug users and randy couples.... that is something different. They find it less difficult to learn, particularly when they think that drugs will sort out any infection anyway.Steven H. edytował(a) ten post dnia 03.08.08 o godzinie 08:37

I've never let a woman pay for herself and am never going to.

But - WHY? Unless you just go out once a week, I'd understand. I feel awkward when a man declares he wants to pay for me, whatever the reason, but will of course accept it. I think last time I saw Keith, he paid for the coffee!

Of course, if I was asked out to a candlelit dinner in a fancy restaurant on a romantic date, I wouldn't mind the guy pay if this was what he wanted. But if I go out with someone a lot, I find it unfair.

I'm low maintenance, but as daft as a cow :)Tatiana S. edytował(a) ten post dnia 03.08.08 o godzinie 17:47
