Lukasz,

Explain this to me.

Why do males of a number of nationalities have a preference for Slavic women, but as far as I'm aware, women of of a number of nationalities don't have a preference for Slavic men?

Sorry for going OT.

Warren,

Males of a number of nationalities have preferance for Slavic females, as it's pretty obvious for me mainly because their appearance and nice body- (please do not treat it unambiguous, I mean, please do not believe in that I am thinking only about the males appearance).

I do not know why Slavic women do not have preference for Slavic men, It might be because someone said that:" Male can choose female, but she has that very possibility to give him her acceptance od rejection".Łukasz Klejment edytował(a) ten post dnia 01.08.08 o godzinie 13:18

Magda B.:
1. Have you ever donated blood?

Yes, in total ~7 litres
2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs, politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?

Ray Kurzweil, Bryan Adams, Michio Kaku.
3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.

Nope.
4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?

Quite a few - I know when I see them. Fluorescent types in general (I know they aren't colours per se). More specifically: pink(ish), some dull grays, greens, blues with gray tones. Lots depends on composition, though. It is easier to say which ones I like.
5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?

I have no probs with it. Back in Poland 9 years ago I would say "no way!" but now yeah, sure.

Magda B.:
1. Have you ever donated blood? What was the reason for doing it? If no, why haven't you done this so far?

I remember donating blood a long time ago when I was studying at Nursing Post-Graduate College (to avoid draft for the army, to be honest). I did it as I wanted to do something useful for the community and get closer to the medical profession I was becoming and apprentice of then.

2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs, politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?

As this is out of the question I would go further, just a little further and invite even historical, or died people.

I would definitely talk to Pamela Sharpe, Ohio Ste University as she is in my opinion the best author of English textbook (How to prepare for the TOEFL), Pamela Sharpe as far a s I know is still alive ;-)

I would surely have dinner with G.W.F Hegel, for I genuinely admire his philosophical work and perpetual influence the work has had on development of philosophical thought.

Finally I would like have a talk with G.W. Bush, but I am not sure that the talk would be a pleasant one.

3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.

I personally never have had any problems with that, except for having to delete lots of unsolicited e-mails, invitations to join a groups I never wanted to join and so on.

4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?

No, there are colours I like, but no colours I do not.

>5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?

I would say it depends. I would never proposed such thing to a girl I would ask for a date, but if she insisted on that point I might reluctantly have been able to understand it.

1. Have you ever donated blood? What was the reason for doing it? If no, why haven't you done this so far?
No, I haven't. I'd like to but I can't ...
2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs, politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?
1. Bono - someone I admire for many reasons + a man with sense of humour,
2. Tomasz Karolak - open, nice + sense of humour
3. Keanu Reeves - that's the type I like ;)
3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.
I've never had troubles because of it but in many companies these sites are blocked. Not without reason, I think.
4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?
neon pink
5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?
It depends on the occasion. But yeah, why not?

1. It's a shame to reveal that - my dad is a Honoured Blood Donor and for me it is enough to hear the word 'blood' to faint :) I don't feel very comfortable avoiding such humanitarian thing just because of my completely irrational fear.

2. However I'm not a regular vegetarian, I'd love to enjoy some falafel and aubergine casserole with Morrissey, Forest Whitaker and John Cleese. As Morrissey is known to be a teetotaller and I love wine, I could swap him for Amy Winehouse ;)

3. So far, I've never had any kind of ban or supervision on community websites at work. Working mostly at home now, I can freely enjoy them. I'm not very active in these networks, though - except for GL, of course :) As far as I know from my friends who work in public administration, denial of access to GL, NK, Facebook, etc. is now becoming a common standard at their offices.

4. I'd agree with Kasia P. - olives, khakis and all the so called 'earth colours'. Plus lurid pink, green, yellow. They only look good on security vests and toys :)

5. I really like the idea, however it depends on the very individual case. Arguing with your companion whether to split the bill or not, while he insists on paying for you is much worse, I suppose :)Magda B. edytował(a) ten post dnia 01.08.08 o godzinie 13:50

1. Have you ever donated blood? What was the reason for doing it?
Yes, twice. First time, years ago, I felt very sick after, and was afraid of redo the esperience. Then, I decided to do it again, last year. Unfortunately, few weeks later, I'd been submited to some farmacological treatment which made the blood donation impossible. But I'm sure when I get through the treatment, I will do the blood donation regulary (women in Fr are allowed to do it three times a year).
Why? It's simple: I'm a -0 (My blood can be given to anybody). So it was quite natural.
But, people, if you ever think of do it in france, please, be awere of the fact that the crazy french don't give you any hot meal after, only frozen things like sandwiches from refrigerator, coca-cola, yoguts, hehehehehe. No nice at all... So you better not choose fall-winter period to do your social solidarity acte ;))))
If no, why haven't you done this so far?
2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs, politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?
the dead people count? If so, Bach, Henry James and Avedon.
3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.
I don't think so.
4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?
beige, violet
5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?
Sweet lord, heheheeh, I'd surely say "hello". The rest depends on the situation, the other person, and lots of other factors.

1. Have you ever donated blood? What was the reason for doing it? If no, why haven't you done this so far?

Never. I can barely stand having my blood tested.
I always have to look away. The sight of it is the worst part.
2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs, politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?

That'd be Nigella Lawson, George Clooney and Kazia Szczuka.
3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.

I rarely do that. Only at breaks. So no.
4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?

Red makes me see red.
Soft warm colours make me puke.
5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?

Isn't that the only rational way?
And give me a break about the respect thing. It's all about dominance.

5. I am working in Dutch company but during my almost two years work there I did not meet pretty Dutch girl, as I know that this is not so important but I prefer Slav's girls.

Regards
Luk@s

I prefer Slavic girls too, the past relationship with a Dutch girl showed it.

1. No. I don't have alot of blood
2. With ex-president Putin - to speak about moral qualities of people
With ich+ich the German band - to speak and drink 1 mug of beer
with Magda Wojcik from Polish band Goya - a very nice and beautiful woman
3.No, no problems, here people even don't know GL and N-K. Facebook and Odnoklassniki.ru are used at work - no attention to it. Only youtube is banned.

4. Pink and dark yellow - just I wouldn't wear this too - feels uncomfortable
5. Going Dutch - no, I will pay my part. But when I want - why not :)

1. Have you ever donated blood? What was the reason for doing it?

Yes I have donated blood several times, it is good to know that there is something I can do to help someone out.

2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people (celebs, politicians, etc.). Who would you invite?

Jon Bon Jovi, why not invite him
a funny comedian.... just to have a light hearted meal with plenty of laughs

3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.

I have never had this problem
4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?

Gray..... not much of a color

5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?

Sure why not

1. Have you ever donated blood?
No. I don't trust Polish hospitals.
In case of emergency it doesn't matter, of course, and I'd donate it.
2. Imagine you can have dinner with three famous people
Jamie Oliver (he can cook), Magda Gessler (she can cook), and Robert Makłowicz (he can cook and talk!). It would be a dream meeting.
3. Have you (or someone you know) ever had any troubles because of browsing community websites at work (GL, Nasza Klasa, Facebook, etc.)? Please elaborate.
Not really. The IT people at companies joke about their frustrated clients who complain about the transfer 'because nasza-klasa doesn't open'
4. Are there any colours you definitely dislike?
oh, yes. the ones I don't look well with. green, pink, yellow
my bedroom is in golden olive green and I hate it now - it definitely doesn't go with my colour preferences
5. Going Dutch on a first date - what's your say?
it's nothing special

maybe the date is more open-ended then

I absolutely don't mind men paying for me as long as they don't draw the wrong conclusions from it or start using it against me when arguing, for example.

It depends if you date a student or a flashy successful businessman. Insisting on paying yourself is not necessary in my opinion in the latter case.

No. I don't trust Polish hospitals.
Why is that?
You think they will sell your blood in underground market?

Or you are concerned with the hygiene? But they use a new set of needles and tools with every new donor, and they usually show how they do it. I'm not sure about Poland though...

Out of the three I'd only take a stab at Jamie's stuff. Maklowicz seems too fuddy daddy to me and M. Gessler waaaaay too pink and curly. How about Marta G.?

Yes, some times. First donation caused by need of some medical tests to be done. Next time, just for "fun" (?)

Jack Welch, Leszek Balcerowicz, Britney Spears ;)

Stereotypes are vary strongly embedded in our culture. It's always been this way.

Temat: Five for Friday, 1st of August

ilter K.:
Why is that?
Theoretically all is sterile and proper, etc. Maybe I'm a little scared.

But the first thing my doctor told me as she was referring me to hospital for an operation last year was that I should get the A and B hepatitis vaccination before I was admitted there. Just in case. Fortunately I'd been vaccinated, so it wasn't necessary to wait a month or so for it to be effective.

But this makes me angry, that hepatitis is so common in these 'sterile' conditions. So I don't donate blood.

And I know B or C hepatitis patients. It's awful.

As I said before, Ilter, in an emergency this wouldn't be an issue.

Edit: that's why I'll never get a tattoo, either.Lidia K. edytował(a) ten post dnia 02.08.08 o godzinie 14:55

they all seem to have a passion, so it's a real pleasure to spend time with such people
