Steve Jones:
Thanks to Lukasz Jedrzejczak!
1. Is it fair that a company director earns much more than, for example, a cleaner?
Nothing is fair in this world. My gran recently announced it's not fair Kasia Cichopek earns such an indecently large amount of money and that there should be a pay band for all actors, just like in PRL ;)
Besides, it's not your education and experience, etc. that justifies high salary. It's what you can do with it. I know people who were very good at school and somehow didn't make it in life. Even if a director got the job through connections, he wouldn't keep it if he was proven to be a crap manager. Or he could cause the company to go bust, in which case he'd lose the job anyway.
Finally, who said a cleaner cannot earn good money? A friend of mine set up a cleaning company in the UK and earned quite a lot more than me. And if you're a plumber, electrician or carpet fitter, you can really rake it because there's a shortage of such people over there.
2.Have you ever been stuck in a rut or in a dead-end job?(If yes, for how long)
Yup. All my cleaning jobs were dead end.
3.How important is it for you to climb the career ladder?
There's not much scope for me to climb the career ladder as such and I don't miss it. But my job is varied, sometimes I have very challenging students and sometimes I teach at a beginner level, some of my students are 'easy' and some are demanding, some are well-paid, some are not.
4.You could do a 3-month work placement in well-known company but it's for free. Would you agree ?
If it could help me in any way, why not.
5. Would you prefer to be self-employed for less pay or beeing wealthy in a totally boring job, for example in a tax office ?
Not in a million years would I do a boring job - however much it would be paid. I am self-employed and I earn a variable salary.
