If you want to understand the English Upper Classes and how they were educated, this is a 'must'.

For those who liked the trailer: Saturday, 05.07, 21:40, TVN

I don't want to disappoint Magda, but I really disliked this film.

This will sound bizarre to the English posters here, me being a southerner, but I actually lived in a mining village, Silverdale Staffordshire, throughout the strike depicted in the film.

I found the portrayal of Working Class people in the film stereotypical, patronising and inaccurate.

I was annoyed by the continual swearing throughout the film, particularly by women.

I'd be interested in Jon's view on this as I believe he comes from a mining community.


I think you miss the point in that movie. hehe. maybe for you as an english man this movie is stereotypical, but for me it shows the passion and love agains the world. even if it was 100% fiction if the strikes never had happened, I think the story is great!

Swearing? well, try to watch any polish movies.. you get move K*** ch** pier*** per minute then in whole billy eliot :)

IMHO football hooligans are wankers, but I.D. is by far the best movie of this genre.

again the same :) you miss the point. its not about autentic story how hooligans behave or not. its the concept of a silly boy becoming a man :D believes and a passion

Unfortunately, it's so unrealistic that no English person would take it seriously, especially someone such as myself who's been to hundreds of football matches.

The lead character is miscast.

They get the accents wrong. And so on.

And these people aren't heroes, but rather idiots, and they shouldn't be glamourised.

It's a film with an English theme that has little or no appeal to English people.
