I find it very odd that Ilter, as a music producer, would like 'middle of the road' stuff.

I don't, although I don't like any of Ilter's stuff either (sorry, Ilter :) well, perhaps except for Thriller, esp. Billie Jean and Beat It). Ilter said they're 'the base' and I guess being a classic for one often means middle of the road for another. I've heard so many acclaimed music critics say things like this I got used to it.

Most bands playing some very heavy stuff when asked about their music roots will tell you about classics that you would hardly expect them to like.

Anyway, my five:

Armia - Legenda
Jimi Hendrix - has to be the Greatest Hits, otherwise I'd have to put Are You Experienced and Electric Ladyland together.
Bjork - Debut
Beth Orton - Central Reservation

haha, no need to feel sorry. I got used to it, and I have a pretty thick skin. Maybe it comes with the profession I chose.
Ilter said they're 'the base' and I guess being a classic for one often means middle of the road for another.
Although I agree with it, it doesn't end in there.

Warren is right about the necessity of 'taste' in a music producer. He thinks that a musician has to have a certain position and character, somehow differing from the rest of the crowd. And he is right in a sense.

But the musicians are all human too. :P :)
I've been a kid once.
And no, I wasn't this cool when I was 12 :)
I wrote something long in here but I deleted it, because I don't want to bore you to death :)

I (or musicians) too have memories of childhood. Anything that strikes us, stays there deep in our memories.
And there's a reason why these classics are classics... they were ground breaking stuff of their time.
There's passion, innovation, jazz, and some bad lyrics in those albums I listed... and it might hurt your feelings, but they are really "base" stuff for many musicians and bands that shake your world now.

AND honestly, maybe I'm a "middle of the road" type of person. Probably. Why not.
I didn't make the connection between this 'taste' and 'personality' thing yet. But it might be a good subject to ponder about.ilter K. edytował(a) ten post dnia 14.03.09 o godzinie 08:52
