(I don’t know if this is a good translation).
This quote is amazing.
It is like something you would expect to read in a German newspaper of the nineteen thirties, or an Afrikaaner newspaper during the time of Apartheid, rather than a ‘modern’ European nation in the 21st century.
Mercifully, Polish is not widely understood by non-Poles.

People say anything when asked in a specific way by the media. I've been to the Stadion many, many times. Never was it dangerous, never did I see aggressions, never did I see the police checking anyone, although they were patroling.
But I pretty often saw and heard Poles treating the foreigners like kids or intellectually challenged beings. Calling them 'you', bossing them around, swearing at them. No pani, pana, but idz, daj, etc.
But the biggest reason for not liking them blackskinned (as the article called them):
"Zysków Nigeryjczyków nie uszczuplają podatki."
Dziennik is Springer. Springer is German. Springer was called the anti-christ after BILD Zeitung enraged the German police and students got killed (one executed) in the 70s. The public outrage let to a week long blockade of Springer headquarters in Hamburg.
There are some books about how they 'conduct business'. They are full of shocking and disgusting stories...

Żony w prokuraturze
Zatrzymani w niedzielnych zamieszkach byli wczoraj przesłuchiwani w prokuraturze przy Bródnowskiej na Pradze. Na wieści o mężach czekały tam ich żony. - Jestem w ósmym miesiącu ciąży, mam 2,5-letnie dziecko. Drugi dzień próbuję się dowiedzieć, gdzie jest mój mąż. Nie ma żadnej informacji - skarżyła się Agnieszka Alinoch, żona jednego z Nigeryjczyków.
Katarzyna Krukowska, żona innego zatrzymanego, opowiadała, że o godz. 6 rano do domu przyszli policjanci. - Pytali, czy mąż bierze narkotyki, czy mnie bije. Jak czekałyśmy tutaj, policjanci, żartując, nagrywali nas na komórki.
Była tam też żona śmiertelnie postrzelonego Nigeryjczyka z trójką małych dzieci. Tylko najstarszej córce powiedziała, co się stało. - Nikt nie zaoferował mi pomocy. Yeah, just don't be black. It's as easy as that. Your choice.In Germany such things mainly occur around football matches. In Eastern Germany it became this bad, that the clubs ended the match and paused the season for two weeks.
One match had to be canceled because of a full attack by skinheads, raiding the stadion and fighting with viewers.

I don't know... but whenever I've had the pleasure of dealing with men of the law, be it here in Poland or in the U.S. it was always the same story. You can never get any useful information and for the most part you're either brushed off , sneered at or just told politely to fuck off. I don't see anything really out of the ordinary when it comes to the way these women were treated, or this case was handled. I guess I might just be a bit immune to such things after dealing with such wonderful people like the NYPD or the U.S. cops in general. In the U.S. most of those involved in that scuffle would have gotten shot right there on the spot, it probably would have made the 10 o'clock news, there would have been some people [mainly friends and family members] who'd picket under the precinct but that would have been it...I've never been to the U.K. so I could never speak for the way things are handled over there, but in the U.S. blatant racism is still practiced by the police all over. As depressing and sad as it might be, and un-comprehensible to most Europeans, to the vast majority of Americans or minorities living in the U.S. this is the norm. I am NOT saying that this is a great example to follow by any means... but it is what it is, it's just here, the reasons for such behavior are mostly based in pure ignorance and the fact that majority of these people haven't had to deal with minorities... well, ever.Rafal Wolk edytował(a) ten post dnia 09.06.10 o godzinie 15:31

I work with people of different races and some of my duties concern their residence permits.The procedures around it have become three times as tight as in the previous years. I understand why, and I support it. But the absurd thing is, these laws have become so restrictive that the most honest immigrants tend to find themselves in serious trouble due to legal complications. At the same time, there is room for law avoidance if one is smart and cheeky enough. So it might be sometimes easier for a criminal to stay here than for a good student with impeccable reputation. I guess you'll find such problems in many countries. In Germany immigration laws were tightened which resulted in an enourmous drop in the number of qualified immigrants. Whereas the numbers of asylum seekers are quite high. And while everyone in the industry and quite a few in politics are asking or looking for more qualified workers in certain fields (e.g. ingeneering, it, medicine).
We just cut into our own flesh...

The point is that, generally, the decision-makers regard migration policy as marginal to other things, while its importance is growing in fact. This is where this lack of logic stems from.

Another problem, is that each country has to obey universal EU laws, and sometimes they simply don't translate well into each individual countries needs. Not every country for example is the gateway between the east and the west like Poland for example. I can see the immigration situation become a serious issue here in not so distant future.

The rules are - if you are interested in applying for an asylum or citizenship in the EU, you must do so in the country in which you've originally crossed the border. Also, once your petition is being processed, you may not leave the host country. The problem is that Poland is still not on the Euro, so most people who come here and receive state financial assistance are not really interested in receiving PLN [even though it's 2000PLN per child]. More often then not, these individuals leave Poland, but if stopped and identified abroad they are returned back to Poland and the Polish gov't can't refuse taking them back. When these individuals are returned to Polish authorities, they lose their chance of obtaining an asylum, which in turn means that they must be sent back. This is also a rather lengthy process and Poland is simply not ready to accommodate and process the number of possible transplants. It's expensive, time consuming and it requires highly skilled individuals with a very strong knowledge of many languages and cultures as well as deep inside information regarding possible reasons for sudden influx of one nation over another... etc etc...

I am ashamed reading this. I have heard many ugly jokes, and racist opinions from people who pretend to be educated and aspire to high cultural values.
It only proves one thing, civilisation and progress is a myth.
Our brains have not changed much from stone age, Poland is not "Christ of Nations"
During communist times, the matter would be hushed, functionaries moved to other precincts, journalists invited by sad men for a friendly talk, intimidated, threatened, or maybe motivated (promotion, money, foreigh post) to write the right way about the case... maybe a scape-goat would be found and punished if public opinion were demanding.

There are many who think that although all people are equal, still there is something in White Man, that makes him distinctly better. Perhaps it is an idea of liberal democracy, or industrialisation and quality management, or maybe the development of scientific method. Or strength of war tools and strategies.In short, in their opinion there is distinct relationship between whiteness of the skin and qualities of the mind... I am unlucky to meet very valuable people who, when the talk comes to cultures, express such view of the races... I think it wrong but the only way to convince them would be some shock therapy, like ... The Great White Man Crisis.Imagine year 2021. Europe swept with crisis. Everyone talks about the bubble European economy was, hardly producing anything. All the scientific research moved to US and China. After Greece in 2010, the whole south of Europe went bankrupt, and then suddenly and unexpectedly the crisis swept through France and Germany.
Unemployment rocketed. Internal demand for services dropped like a stone. Populist governments took over. Higly skilled specialists, engineers left for better salaries and conditions created for them by Government of China which evolved from totalitarian to meritocratic.
Next, they were invited by Brasilian and Indian Governments courageous to introduce incentives that made small business flourish.
Everyone wants to escape from Europe... White people in asylum centers in China, India and Brasil. But their education and erudition is not needed. They are too choosy about their jobs, they are too much used to protectionism and high pays.
