Ok.. I'm a little confused...You're telling me (and I believe you) that you'd need to be making around 4,000zl per month NET to live in Warsaw at a basic reasonable minimum standard.
The average salary in Poland is 3,000zl GROSS.
Could anyone help me out with my confusion?
Or is it simply this:
Warsaw person earns 10K. The rest of the country earns 2K and the average is 3K?

You can make it with less than 4000 in WaWa, but you have to cut down expenses.
4000 is for a normal living with some luxury and shopping. Less is with less. Smaller flat, no cinema, no cd's, dvd's etc. No restaurants. Basically nothing else but food and rent and you can live from mere 2000Zl, I'd say.
And I tried... Or at least was challenged to do so ;)

Wow, that's pushing it - I'd have thought that 2k wasn't enough for anything else than a place to stay at.

Wow, that's pushing it - I'd have thought that 2k wasn't enough for anything else than a place to stay at.
You can always take someone in, share the rent, eat only out of cans, etc. All the survival skillz you learn as a student coming from a non-rich family ;)

By the occasion, how much do you spend on food alone? It won't differ much (or rather doesn't have to differ if you want to) in different places in Poland.For me it's about 12zl/day what basically gives less than 400zł/month. I eat at home. Additionally I do some cheating by visiting my parents on weekends and stuff so it's even 300zl/mont. People say I eat a lot (to be precise it's 300g of bakery things, 400g of meat/cheese a 100g of rice per day so I'm not sure it's that much).

Roughly estimated for us 200Zl. per week. Not included alcohol, restaurant, eating out (during a work day).So 400Zl. per person per month. Roughly, I'd say.
