if you can be bothered to visit my Język giętki group here on GL, you'll see why. I will sometimes correct people and tell them so, and although this kind of criticism isn't taken in easily, it's been appreciated on many occasions.
such 'hiper proper groups' make me wanna puke

As for the topic:
Lidia, I understand you wanted to make a nice thread BUT
why, oh why did you have to write that "oh, by the way, the mistake is of some very arrogant person" (I know, it's not your words, just how I perceive it) and that you were proud of yourself to point this one out?! WTF???
It's like trying to insult someone who does not have to know it is actually about that person.
I'm extremely intollerant to that kind of behavior.
IF I have a problem with someone/the person has a problem - I say it straight ahead. Playing games like that makes me sick.

What makes me cringe though is when it says "English - fluent" on someone's profile and all they can do is write messages in broken Ponglish. I know it's rude, I've been told off for commenting on things like that on DYSE (even had a woman write me bitter PMs), but why not say "good", "intermediate", whatever? My English isn't perfect, but I can safely say "advanced" and be completely honest about it. I'd never say my French was native-like.(hold the comments, please)

Tatiana S.:I got caught out with this yesterday. Some bloke on gl asked for my cv and i sent it. And i had been posting in dire polish. And I realised I had "polish-fluent" on my cv, which is a bare-faced lie but I always assumed I'd be sending it to British employers who wouldnt know the difference :-)

Well I learnt it from listening to other people so my written polish is really bad - but I can get by. I worked in a pub for two years so I had to speak my version of polish all day long. Painful for others, I imagine :-)
