Did you know that the days after 9/11 (when the US was searching for the perpetrators )CNN ran footage of Palestinians rejoicing in the streets honking car horns,burning american flags etc but later had to admit and apologize that this footage which was more than a year old-long before 9/11.Infact alot of Media took up on that. And yes I fell for it and was shocked to see people gloating at America's tragedy. This is despicable journalism and yet how are we to know any better unless we are there to witness for ourselves.I dont have this luxury and neither do I expect you to have.Of course now I am alot more skeptical about any forms of media even ones that claim to tell you as it 'really is'.

About the US capabilities yes,about civilian deaths- yes, about smart bombs,- yes but now you can now write what you wrote having the benefit of hindsight.There were many arguments for and against the War but I believed in part the Media and what it sold me.An Iraq free of Saddam. The WMD I knew was a bullshit pretext

Not quite true! I saw a BBC made documentary on PTV1( our main TV channel) which questioned the truth sold by the American media about 9/11. How would it be possible if what you are saying here was true?

Jersey City... next town over to where I live, is a very middle eastern populated city… when 9/11 happened some of the members of that community went out and celebrated in the streets, obviously forgetting where they live, which turned into a serious beating when brothers from the neighboring projects came out with bats and took care of business, destroying scores of stores and delis predominantly owned by folks of middle eastern background.Media is completely bias all the time, something, that I’ve always thought everyone knew, but for some reason so many people still solemnly rely on MSNBC, FOX, CNN and other such so called “news organizations” to provide them with news. After so many fuck ups through out the years, affairs and misinterpreting of facts … it just all falls on deaf ears.
Another thing is, the constant vilifying of Muslims, every time that this religion gets brought up it is in a context of terrorism or extremism. I wonder what would have happen world wide, if each time someone mentioned Catholicism, we’d tell people how many Muslims have just been killed by those of Christian background or by something sponsored and paid for by Christian capital. The difference is staggering.
What most Americans failed to do after 9/11 is to ask the right questions. The only thing that people were saying was – “what are we going to do about this” when the most important question – “why did this happen”? Was left on the back burner. Anyone who’s asked themselves that questions and looked for answers, would have no problems figuring out that Iraq war is a farce.
The ONLY proof, only piece of “evidence” that was presented to the UN prior to the Iraqi invasion… was a set of DRAWINGS presented by Colin Powell of mobile missile silos… DRAWINGS.
The UN group was still on the ground searching for WMD’s while Bush declared that Saddam did not allow such groups into Iraq, but at the same time representatives of that group would speak in front of cameras telling the American people that they have absolutely no evidence that WMDs exist in Iraq. All this information was widely available to public.
Another thing that just keeps bothering me personally is Guantanamo Bay…
Couple of things – if you go to the us.gov site you can find a very interesting piece of information – bidding for building these specialized prisons took place in 1999.
Yet the most important question that somehow escapes the public – Since when is Cuba our ally?

Well, for the same reason we have shows about UFO abductions on the History Channel.

Yes it is quite true - The Sunday Times,The London Times,The Sun,The Star,The News of the World,even that of the usually anti-war Independent and Mirror,were supportive of the military campaign.Think of every Rupert Murdoch owned newspaper and that too was pro war.The Guardian was the only newspaper that was anti war from the very beginning.
If you are familiar with John Pilger a very respected journalist this is what he had to say " The worst case was the BBC, which gave just 2 per cent of its coverage to opposition views - views that represented those of the majority of the British people. A separate study by Cardiff University came to the same conclusion. The BBC, it said, had "displayed the most pro-war agenda of any [British] broadcaster".
Now put that in your pipe and smoke it!
