Temat: Conspiracy Theories

What is your opinion on conspiracy theories in general? there are so many of them on such a variety of issues and events that its hard to separate fact from fiction. 9/11 springs to mind.
Perhaps you have your own conspiracy theory.

I think such theories are loads of bs to be perfectly honest with you. 9/11 theories were debunked point by point - from explosives in the WTC to supposed lack of camera image of a plane that hit the Pentagon.
Moon landing, now, if there are people who tell me it was all rigged in Hollywood I'm very tempted to tell them they are as thick as castle wall.
Creationists vs. the theory of evolution - another one which makes me cringe. How on Earth one could even start to consider that Earth was 4000 years old and the theory or evolution was liberal plot to eradicate faith from simple folk's lives?
All in all - I would need absolutely rock-solid evidence corroborated and cross-referenced from number of sources to accept a fact from such theory.

I agree with you to a point on some issues but I wouldnt discredit all conspiracies out of hand. The book "Stupid White Men" without pointing the finger does raise alot of valid questions about 9/11 and they can be factually based. Its about what the government KNEW and chose to ignore because they needed a reason to go to war with Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Gulf of Tonkin incident where the Americans torpedo their own ship as a pretext for War in South East Asia ie Vietnam is well documented.This incident gave President Johnson the authority to conduct military operations in Southeast Asia without the benefit of a declaration of war. The Resolution gave President Johnson approval "to take all necessary steps, including the use of armed force". Read about it for yourself and then ask yourself did 3000 lives on 9/11 die in a Government inspired plot( although not personally carried out by)as a pretext for getting their hands on some of the worlds largest oil suppliers.Benjamin Horler edytował(a) ten post dnia 08.11.08 o godzinie 11:38

Hi,

I'd say conspiracy theories are a dark side of philosophy. Erveryone tries to explain the world or singular events due to his or hers experiences and thoughts. The world seen through their eyes. Although certain incidents might arouse questions and doubts or simply seem to be inexplainable this does not mean there are hidden forces working behind the curtains. Just think of how the people saw the world hundreds of years ago with magic and withchcraft and gods and spirits aso. Our brain wants to see a connection and a deeper meaning but we yet might not be up for understanding, we lack evolution. In the meantime we plot and weave stories to satisfy our needs.
Maybe you experienced something yourself that you were sitting with friends just shooting the old bull a bit and you slipped into a total absurd story or idea about someone or something. Or you might have experienced gossips about yourself that werent true. Little conspiracy theories :))

On the other hand, I watched a BBC documentary which purpose was to prove that 9/11 conspiracy theory with lots of facts the journalists were able to dig out. One of them was about some of the hijackers who supposedly died on the planes. It turned out that these people are still alive and doing very well, and they didn't even change their names! do you think the BBC would be lying? A friend of mine in Dubai says its common knowledge that Bin Laden is undergoing treatment in Dubai for liver complications.

Maybe its just speculation, but then think about this: when immediately after 9/11 and ALL flights were grounded why were the Bin Laden Families allowed to fly out of the US?

sounds suspect to me and it is fact.

Because Bin Laden family had very strong investments/connections in US, and they didn't want them to be harmed.

9/11 seems very suspicious to me. I've seen a lot of footage, and still trying to figure out how a network like BBC can not have its own footage. Their footage was reported to be 'erased accidentally'. Have you heard anything about that?

It's one thing to put thallium in someone's tea and call it leukemia. I could get Ilter with soup. Or use a modified umbrella tip to inject a pellet into someone's thigh. Those I could buy.

In my opinion, however, the conspiracy theories that would require large scale orchestration, and then the subsequent secrecies you need from such a large group of humans-only don't make sense to me. "Why would I even want to?" The would-be actors have families, etc.; there are too many conflicting incentives for the cohesiveness you would need. You would need "robots." Not humans.

I dunno...gimme another beer :)))

Still the 9/11 conspiracy worked and noone had known/been able to stop it before it actually happened. It was a large-scale orchestration, wasn't it?

It seemed like a couple of dozen cats and bankrolled by a few more. Terrorism isn't an act of war. It's a crime. It's easy to plan a crime among a few individuals with common incentives. I think it's just thugs doing a mass murder.

As Joj said, it must be a MASSIVE orchestration, which seems not very realistic to me. But I've also seen 'black' planes in all of the pictures from many angles, although it was a shiny morning hour. I haven't seen any 'dark' planes flying unless the sun stays behind, plane masking the sun.
I love planes. I know planes. + They don't sound like missiles.
But still. I CAN'T believe it COULD be done.
Maybe 3 planes hit 3 targets that day. Maybe. And I am deeply sorry, whoever planned what. It's a crime.

A plane or a missile? Landing on the Moon or Hollywood trick? UFO crash in Roswell or a weather balloon?
Who knows.
It's really hard to make a lotta people lie or be silnet, even with a great amount of cash. Actually I'm not the Lonely Gunmen (remember X-Files?;) kind of guy and I don't quite believe in conspiracy theories.

Iraq - oil.
Afghanistan - gettin' rid of the Talibans.

It's not a conspiracy theory. It's a matter of politics and economy ;)

Do you think it may have something to do with the current economic crisis or something more? Who's to say this isn't staged, so that while we are whipped up into a state of panic, some dirty deals can continue off the radar?

Not entirely unbelievable, if you ask me. The dudes in charge are not our friends, capice?

It is not a mystery Benjamin, and you know it.
Iraq was a chosen target long before 9/11.
Official reports stated Bin Laden was somewhere close to Pakistani border in Afghanistan.
Iraq was a bogus target.
Iraq was one of the first countries which wanted to sell oil in Euros, and "not cooperative" with US government.

And that's a nice conspiracy theory we got here;)

Stocking up food and ammo makes sense in case of war, massive flood or next Katrina, or other nice things like that (nuclear strike for example - "Fallout" is one of my favourities;). But economic crisis? Don't you think it's a little too far-fetched?

I’m little confused now, I mean of course they landed on the Moon but this show on tv was made in Hollywood studio. Am I right?
