Alicja, could you please tell me, where I claimed that "walls should be there"?
Please, enlighten me. Take quotes.

when I said they should be smashed you said that I ask stupid questions... so I guess it's obvious that you want them to be thereAlicja Efejska edytował(a) ten post dnia 24.10.08 o godzinie 16:26

Alicja, you don't know what you are talking about.

Smashing those walls is not like your Pink Floyd smashing the walls in Berlin.

If you really want to learn about it, read some books.

If you really want to know what I think about it, ask proper questions.

But if not, stop the thing you are doing.

Read.
If you don't understand: ask questions.

Question is and was wrong, because I don't think walls should be there.

How did you get that idea, I don't know.

Question is wrong, and as long as it stays like that, you won't get even the most stupid answer from me.ilter K. edytował(a) ten post dnia 24.10.08 o godzinie 17:00

Well, they shouldn't be put up in the first place so if they do exist, concerts or other cultural events aren't bound to change much.

I admire your ability to change (!) the subject anytime you want.

But good that you started to -at least- state your opinion.

It is better than not being able to understand and continue with false assumptions about other people's opinions.

Rafal W.:
... a very first ever electronic music event which included crews from Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan… it took place last weekend in Jordan and it went off without a problem!..
That alone, is a success Rafał.
I hope such steps will follow and they will help at least with not repeating the same stupid mistakes that we keep doing as humans.

It is enough that the event took place in the region.

But I hope they could repeat the very same event in Jerusalem.

My friend lives in Jerusalem, they've tried on few occasions, but they were met with brut police force... it even made Israeli news couple of years ago. It usually ends up bloody. Small events are possible to pull of now and again, but nothing on this scale but the following is definitely growing. They've picked Jordan because it was the only place where all the crews could access without serious restrictions and at the same time allowing people from the EU to travel with ease.

I hope that maybe next year I'll be able to part take. Time will tell.

I've read a little the discussion.

I was not aware of this event, and I agree it's really a great idea and a big success that nothing happened.

But I'm afraid that it will be a drop on a heated plate.
The hate between the Israelis and Arabs is so deep that with organizing some concerts you will not change the hate into peace.

But of course, we can only support them to continue. You never know something will change.

It all has to start somewhere. It is obvious that political and religious leaders make way too much profit on the ongoing war and hatred... it is up to the people who suffer daily because of the corruption and greed to make a stand and show to each other and to the world that this is not the way or the will of any free living citizen.

I agree with you Rafal.
But the power is still in hands of few maniacs (on both sides)... and it seems they still can brainwash the whole group.

Agreed, there are however and have been international efforts to help out, with actions like the Human Shields for example - a group of people who risk their lives just to protect the innocent. This is leading by example, we got so many "online activists" and people who are eager to ridicule any efforts yet not doing anything themselves. There are so many different groups that try to spread awareness in various ways. Help efforts are also thwarted by various restrictions and embargos that don't allow citizens of certain courtiers to travel and visit others... yet people still go against these regulations and participate in events and actions and put themselves in situations that are very dangerous to say the least... and it's all for a great cause... saving humanity is a great cause however lost it may be... but making a single person see things differently and realize that they do have options other than those offered by those in power.

I don't think Rafal has meant to offend you, Alicja. It's just how excited he gets sometimes (and direct). He says things like that to me all the time ;)

Btw, I can't really relate to the Israeli / Palestine conflict: I once spoke to an Israeli girl (a really sweet girl) in the UK, who would never have it any other way: the Israelis are civilised and the Palestine savage terrorists should burn in hell. That reminds me of the Chinese people saying Tibet is, has been and will always be Chinese. End of story. When you hear things like this, you feel like your head is banging against the wall.
So, all the more thumbs up for the success of the event because things like this are always a minefield. And now this reminds me of the Belarussian gigs organised in PL, where the opposing rock bands were delegalised in their home country. For a while we served as a safety valve they never had but now Lukashenko has eased the strings a bit and - surprise, surprise, everything is fine. They can trade some of their freedom for comfort. This can feel rally anticlimactic...

Ok Sylwia but the difference between us is that you accept this kind of behaviour and I don't. I feel it's it is totally inappropriate to bahave in this way and he is old enough to be able to control his emotions.

I don't know. I've got certain buttons that when pressed at a wrong time, are bound to explode. And I don't accept various kinds of behaviour. Of course, you've got the right to feel offended - after all, Rafal's words were directed at you. So my opinion shouldn't get in the way of how you feel.

I don't understand how just by disagreeing with someone's opinion you can get hyped so much that it will ignite this kind of explosion? It's just a discussion and not a fight.

Everyone's different. You can't always predict the response to what you say. People are responsible for what they say. And, they're always the one responsible for their reaction. A lot of things can happen in between (misunderstanding, wrong interpretation, etc. ) I've made a comment on your exchange of thoughts, but I really shouldn't be drawn any further. In other words, I shouldn't be the one to tell you how to feel about it.
