Thank you very much to Pawel Boguszewski for these slightly bizarre management-themed questions! (I really think I should admit, though, that I edited one of them - see if you can guess which one...)

1. How thin is the line between managers and menagerie?

2. Which idea from business theories of the last century most enslaves people? Some tips - Reengineering, competitive advantage, outsourcing...

3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?

4. How many Poles does it take to change a light bulb?

5. Why do you think Five for Friday is better than Being the One, Tea for Two, Menage a Trois or Czterej Pancerni i Pies?

1. How thin is the line between managers and menagerie?

Cubicle-thin.
2. Which idea from business theories of the last century most enslaves people? Some tips - Reengineering, competitive advantage, outsourcing...

Zwangsarbeit (forced labour)

3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?

WHAT? I need a diploma for THAT???
4. How many Poles does it take to change a light bulb?

Zero. No matter how many, they would always slip into an argument ;)
5. Why do you think Five for Friday is better than Being the One, Tea for Two, Menage a Trois or Czterej Pancerni i Pies?

Sex at six was too controversial ;)

Thank you very much to Pawel Boguszewski for these slightly
Thank you, Pawel. :)
1. How thin is the line between managers and menagerie?
It depends on what they're managing. Manager of a zoo? Thin. Manager of a cemetery? Not.
2. Which idea from business theories of the last century most enslaves people? Some tips - Reengineering, competitive advantage, outsourcing...
The Manufacturing assembly line comes to mind, but I have not studied or even thought of business theories very much.
3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?
Hey, man. If the person can make the Love work between everyone...why not.
4. How many Poles does it take to change a light bulb?
All my Polish acquaintances are handier than I am. So I have to say one (but it takes three lightbulbs :) hehe
5. Why do you think Five for Friday
Please study your Anglospherian history, Pawel. In February 2007 Anglosphere's founding member, Warren W. had a vision...

True manager always plans his agenda so that he doesn't think about other things except for management :)

1. How thin is the line between managers and menagerie?

Managers are never normal for me. Natural order of things is to increase entropy. Managers just do opposite :)

2. Which idea from business theories of the last century most enslaves people? Some tips - Reengineering, competitive advantage, outsourcing...

From XX-th century? Rat race.

3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?

Why not. From my experience: not all graduates are stupid. And many much older managers are bad.

4. How many Poles does it take to change a light bulb?

In general I don't know. But in my house it takes two: I change the bulb and second person guards the switch for avoiding accidental turning the light on by a third Pole.

5. Why do you think Five for Friday is better than Being the One, Tea for Two, Menage a Trois or Czterej Pancerni i Pies?

Thanks Steve for such delightful question :) Let's consider "Czterej Pancerni i Pies". It's just a story about four humanoids and one doid. And it's nothing in compare to the strange society of "otaku" from the "Five for..." just because of the rule "the more the merrier" :)Tomasz Krzal edytował(a) ten post dnia 02.10.09 o godzinie 13:13

1. How thin is the line between managers and menagerie?
(menagerie - a collection of wild animals which are kept privately or to show to the public)
Arent we managers wild animals under a thin skin of civilization.
Answer: very thin, we have to realise it and control our animal nature (or reptile brain) every time we compete and differ in opinions. Understand and control our animal nature, tendency to show off and bite off oponent's face every time we compete and differ in opinions.
Cf. theories of body language, etology of human beings "Naked Ape" and Human Zoo" by Desmont Morris.
2. Which idea from business theories of the last century most enslaves people? Some tips - Reengineering, competitive advantage, outsourcing...
Answer: Competitive advantage. And it should be Win-Win, sustainable growth, small/simple is beautiful, (Amerindian) do not hurt Mother Earth etc.
3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?
In Poland, I did not even try considering it, with the red tape and attitude of tax office that you as private entrepreneur are "public enemy number one". I was poisoned with communism on many inperceptible levels.
4. How many Poles does it take to change a light bulb?
As a Pole I think it is practical to engage two Poles. With old housing that have no differential switch and with 230V in the socket, I would have another one on guard. Grounding in the old housing is often not reliable, I would advise you stand on one leg and use only one hand , ... c'mon, It takes one and some risk :-)
5. Why do you think Five for Friday is better than Being the One, Tea for Two, Menage a Trois or Czterej Pancerni i Pies?
I do not think Five for Friday is better... I vote for Czterej Pancerni i Pies. Pies seemed to calm down the animal nature in the four humanoids, vide. point 1. It would be a perfect team for a trip to Mars.Jacek Kotowski edytował(a) ten post dnia 02.10.09 o godzinie 10:58

1. How thin is the line between managers and menagerie?

Depends on the pencil/brush.
2. Which idea from business theories of the last century most enslaves people? Some tips - Reengineering, competitive advantage, outsourcing...

I have to admit I don't really dig into business theories... after all they only work with a proper strategy.. *shrug*
3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?

Nothing wrong about it. Some people are just that good.
4. How many Poles does it take to change a light bulb?

North and South Pole
5. Why do you think Five for Friday is better than Being the One, Tea for Two, Menage a Trois or Czterej Pancerni i Pies?

1. How thin is the line between managers and menagerie?
Very thin during integration party
2. Which idea from business theories of the last century most enslaves people? Some tips - Reengineering, competitive advantage, outsourcing...
The more you stick to any theory the more enslaving it becomes. So any could be enslaving - depends on your attitude.
3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?
Right after diploma means with no experience in business?

Well, sh*t happens so a manager right after diploma can also happen. It may be really hard to be a manager with no experience in business. It may be very hard for subordinates to have a manager with no experience in business (I wouldn't like to).
People tend to confuse two functions: manager of a team and leader of a team. There is a thin line between those two - it's all about the competences and some kind of maturity.
I wouldn't recommend people after their first diploma such position - for their own good.
4. How many Poles does it take to change a light bulb?
None- just wait and see. Finally some Chinese will come and change it :)

I hate these jokes..
5. Why do you think Five for Friday is better than Being the One, Tea for Two, Menage a Trois or Czterej Pancerni i Pies?

Because it's triple F in the short version - looks nicer that BTO, TFT, MAT, CPIP. CPIP - OMG - WTF? :o

Thank you very much to Pawel Boguszewski for these slightly bizarre management-themed questions!
Thanks, Pawel, but your questions are a mystery to me.
1. How thin is the line between managers and menagerie?
Not very thin at all.
2. Which idea from business theories of the last century most enslaves people? Some tips - Reengineering, competitive advantage, outsourcing...
What I know about business theories can be written on a very small pierogi. Outsourcing sounds good, though. Is it something to do with ketchup in restaurants?
3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?
No thanks.
4. How many Poles does it take to change a light bulb?
Twelve?
5. Why do you think Five for Friday is better than Being the One, Tea for Two, Menage a Trois or Czterej Pancerni i Pies?
Well it could be better. Or it might be worse. But I've never heard of any of those things :-)

The Czterej Pancerni and The Dog one? They must've been a huge hit in the UK TV back in the days...
1. How thin is the line between managers and menagerie?
Based on my experience so far - there is no spoon... I mean line.
2. Which idea from business theories of the last century most enslaves people? Some tips - Reengineering, competitive advantage, outsourcing...
The problem with theories is that too often they remain theories. It's not the theories that enslave people. It's the people.
3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?
Depends:
A. You have 10 + years of work experience, at various levels, you have managed people (i.e. a team leader), you decide to finally get a degree - O.K.
B. You're a Uni graduate, age 24-25, have lived off mom'n'paps all your adult life, you get hired by a corporation because you've been a straight A student - N.O.K.
4. How many Poles does it take to change a light bulb?
Into what?
5. Why do you think Five for Friday is better than Being the One, Tea for Two, Menage a Trois or Czterej Pancerni i Pies?
Because:
A. I prefer coffee.
B. in Menage a Trois the chances of being the bun rather than the wiener are higher than in FFF.
C. I'm not even gonna go there...Jarek A. edytował(a) ten post dnia 02.10.09 o godzinie 19:36

ehem, I'm not a theory master, in my age I rather go practice.:)
any theory, in which pression is used would be the answer
3. What do you think about becoming a manager right after your first diploma?
NOthing, I know people who ended their education on secondary school and are self-made managers of their own companies, and reached the top of the food chain. On the other hand I know well educated ( economy universities) people who are just another brick in the wall , and have no prospects for better living...
