As I said before - there were plenty of false profiles here as well. So I know one when I see one :)))
Teach me how to tell a fake profile from a legit one. Seriously.

PS + OT: Let me brag for a while: I too am a mod and admin in a couple of big net communities where I have "killing powers". Gives me my daily dose of ego boost.
It was not about an ego - it was about the basic thing - don't take everything at its face value. Because it may be completely different value.
How to find out a false profile - first and basic tool is the IP. So maybe moderators should have an access to users' IPs? And this is what they should talk to GL about?

Everybody wants to google everybody... Why?

I don't care where you work or what you do. I don't care whether you pretend to be more educated, more beautiful, more sophisticated than you really are. Trust is developed over time, and in the end, we all have to live with ourselves. If you're hiding your picture or your name - you must have a reason for it. I am not going to judge you by your profile or lack thereof. I am going to judge you by the things you say and how they help me become a better person. That's why I am here - to learn something good from other people.

I'm pretty sure that would violate the Internet Privacy laws... and there are many.. MANY ways to camouflage your IP.
I can tell you right now, that when I’m at work in NYC my IP is based out of a location in Virginia… when I’m at home I use an IP based out of NJ…

If I sign up to GL form my home pc, will I not be able to log on later from a different pc (work, friend's pc)?

If you have "allocation not specified" you easily know it's a boot, right? Even I - computer blonde, knows this

When I'm at work - my IP is clearly saying my company name. At home I have the dynamic IP, but still it gives you an information about the internet provider.

You really have to give me at least a bit more credit than that Mrs. M! hehe.. if I'm logged in from my home location, I use an IP block quite a lot... these little things are free to DL, easy to install and change your IP location at random to pretty much any location world wide.
